Good tips. Another is to submit your videos as ‘video responses’ to videos that get a lot of traffic. You will get some trickle down from high traffic videos that allow video responses.
YouTube is such a powerful tool for marketing, but don’t forget the fun as well. I loaded up a video I’d made of nephew’s football tournament and within minutes had emailed, skype, text, phoned the whole family who could enjoy it at the click of a button.
I agree with optimising your Youtube channel, it makes the whole enterprise more professional.
In my opinion, the most important part of bringing traffic to Youtube videos is actually to have a really cool looking thumbnail picture.

What I’m focusing on is to make the videos interesting enough that people would want to share them with their friends, in other words become viral.

I think youtube is good for branding/viral purposes. I have yet to produce any original videos from my blog and would like to hear how others have successfully leveraged the medium.
Great tips. I have been thinking about getting into marketing through YouTube. I have bookmarked this video to come back to watch again once I get a video to promote.
Right now I have my own youtube channel with a total of 127 subscribers, after viewing that video, I can definitely see some tips to improve upon my youtube channel, and I can definitely see the youtube referrals picking up to my personal blog.

I’m not sure how I feel about item #5. I’m always reluctant to link build for other people’s content (yes I know I made it but it’s hosted on their site.) If it had a dofollow link back to me I’d be a bit more inclined.

Go to YouTube, and click Upload. Name the video and all of that stuff. Then it will come to a part where you can choose to either Upload a video, or use Quick Capture. Select Quick Capture which will connect to your webcam and you can record yourself right there.
