The move is complete. Well almost.
As you would have read on the old Entrepreneur’s Journey blog I was making a move to a new service with it’s own domain name (www.entrepreneurs-journey.com – you’re here now – or if you are reading this on RSS go open your browser and visit) and also changing from the Movable Type blogging software to the WordPress blogging software.
I spent the last few days deciding on a new theme, skin, template, layout…whatever for this site. I tried out a bunch, almost went with FastTrack because it had a slick although graphically heavy look. I then asked for some feedback on FastTrack and based on your comments and my own hesitation I decided against it and went back to the drawing board. I eventually settled on the theme Pool which you are looking at now if you are visiting this site with a browser.
I then went to work converting Pool to look a lot like the old Entrepreneur’s Journey design so the “resistance to change” factor shouldn’t be too significant. I know how we all hate change! This process turned out to be quite easy and I’m very happy with the results. It’s a clean and simple design with a few extra functions that I really, really wanted.
The best feature is that it allows me to very easily create stand alone sub-pages linked from little tabs at the top for easy navigation. I’m working on creating a few sections, things like recommended books, article repository and resources etc that will clearly define the main features of this blog. It will of course, remain a blog, with daily entries from me, but I wanted a way to clearly separate the important content without having to troll through the categories at random. Besides this feature WordPress also has a much easier backend interface to use, is database driven so no more rebuilds and has quite a few other “make my life easier” features. It’s certainly the honey moon period for me and WordPress!
No doubt all of the features I mentioned above are available in Moveable Type, and it might be just me, but it seems a whole lot easier to get them working with WordPress. The fact that I had over 280 really good WordPress themes to choose from made the choice a no brainer. Thanks to the wonderful WordPress community.
Now let’s get back to blogging business (and podcasting too!).

I actually like this theme and much prefer Wordpress over the Moveable types. I was a little worried when there was a bit of negative hype over the new 2.7 version, but after upgrading all I can say is it rocks, especially the feature that allows you to make a post ’sticky’.
