Here at Entrepreneur’s Journey I make most of the decisions on what makes it to the front page. That’s all well and good if there were a bunch of people like me reading this blog, which I am sure there are, but really I know nothing about you guys. I realise the best way to make this blog better is to more accurately meet your desires and when I say you I mean YOU, the readers of this blog.
To help facilitate communication between you and me I’m creating this post as the official feedback and requests topic. The idea is that you leave feedback and requests for topics you would like to see covered on this blog. You can leave feedback by -

I find your site absolutly fascinating as it is Yaro. My only feedback is keep up the good work, you’ve obviously researched this SEO business more than George Lucas has spent rewriting Star Wars 7, Return of the one legged ewok.

I find everything fine as it is. I rarly listen to podcasts, so it could do without them.
In case you find it useful, here’re my (very personal) current interests regarding web-based businesses, maybe you can say something about one of them:
* how to delegate
* how find/evaluate business ideas
* current internet business trends/models
* how to find a focus
* bootstraping a business / keeping a business alive
Besides that, I enjoy most your personal story as a fellow entrepreneur.
I really liked the interview you did with Will (I really think interviews make the best use of podcasts) so I’d like to see more of those. But yeah, generally the blog is excellent!

ummm…no Google AdSense….it makes the blog ugly. Back to the point…
I would like to see more posts on trends…odd business ideas or services…or what about people who want to bring their offline business online and have real durable products, how can they take advantage of the web.

Thanks for your suggestions and I see the angle you are talking about regarding offline business going online.
Regarding AdSense, I’ll write an explanation later but basically I’m testing. I do not anticipate much from AdSense but since I mention it a lot in this blog I thought I really needed to refresh my familiarity with the system. Plus in the long run I would like to make *some* income from this blog and this experience will help me to assess whether AdSense will remain part of the monetisation process.

I stumbled upon this website yesterday and am really impressed with the content so far - keep it up! As for monetisation, I think it’s fine that you’re using AdSense - after all, although I suspect you enjoy maintating this website, I believe you should get a little back from what you’re doing - you’re advice is very well put. As for suggestions, I would love to see/hear an article/podcast on the best ways to accept money over the net. Now there are a lot: Paypal, Nochex, Fastpay etc. - but which is the best one? I’m from England too, so it would be good if you could refer to organisations both geographically specific and global. Thanks.

As you know I do read your blog fairly regularly (pretty much daily actually, although time constraints mean I often skim read articles that don’t absolutely fascinate me).
I’d be very pleased if you could implement a better system for digging through your archives. I find it difficult to find older posts that aren’t on the front page any more. You have a lot of valuable content there and I’d love to be able to use it as a browseable (not just searchable) online library.
I highly recommend the Extended Live Archives plug-in for WordPress. You can see it implemented on my site.

I really enjoyed the payment system podcasts Yaro, but I have a question. You know when companies have a payment system in place, I never really see Paypal or the like written all over the place when you confirm your order - it’s just a simple shopping basket, with payments made over a secure connection. How do you set one of these up then - is this what’s known as a ‘merchant account’? I feel it looks more professional for your company to have a plain, simple, non-branded payment page, but I’m not entirely sure how you get this? I’d appreciate your views on this - Ben
Ben, yes that does sound like a merchant account. Paypal now offers that too. If it’s seamless and the whole payment processes never leaves the site then most likely there is a merchant account with a payment gateway all working behind the scenes.
Okey dokey - and a merchant account is normally taken from a bank e.g. HSBC. Thanks.
what about a post about textbook prices and the opportunity for someone to profit from provided cheaper textbooks…maybe someone who would be willing to not publish them in that expensive glossy pages.
Hmm…Jason I don’t think I have enough experience with the textbook market to comment on that one.

I feel the following suggestion would be beneficial to both you and your visitors Yaro. Could you make your links open in an external window, so that readers remain on your website, whilst still able to read from sites which are included in your articles? By doing this, visitors don’t have to wait until they’ve finished reading or right click and select open in new window. It also means visirors stay on your website longer - not going to other websites and leaving yours behind.
Thanks for the feedbck Ben. I already do some new window links on the main articles I link to however I don’t do it for every link because I think that might get too excessive and annoying. I’ve found it annoying when every link on a site does that however it’s hard to say what the majority prefer.
Right, yes. I take your point - personally, I prefer it to open in new windows, unless it means I’m leaving the site - which, in EJ’s case, I wouldn’t want to do until I’ve finished reading.
Here’s an additional idea for future blog posts or podcasts…. apart from the email I sent you about reseller hosting accounts - i.e. would it be a good idea to startup a hosting reseller account and use it to host your sites cheaply? (of course with a little hosting sales to keep everyone happy).
The other thing I’d like to see some hints/tips on is dealing with people when you’ve started a business at a young age. I have been running a home-based computer business since I was around 16-17 (fully registered, as well as GST) and I found for quite a while that a few people (e.g. at the bank, when enquiring about business accounts) would not take me seriously and I felt as though they were treating me as a kid which was rather frustrating. At that stage I also lacked a strong knowledge of business lingo, especially regarding the many financal aspects of business, which didn’t help my situation.
Would have liked to have posted in the forum, but I feel this is the next best place to say a little WAHOO and teehee about the recent Ashes cricket match! ENGLAND!

I actually tried the forums thing a few months back but shut it down. It was going to take too much attention to get going. I still don’t think I have the audience to get a new forum off the ground. Perhaps in another 6 months or so we can try again, however I’m not certain I would launch it as part of this blog, more likely stand alone forum…but we’ll see anyway.

Hey Yaro… I was wondering if you could share with us how you prepare a podcast or interview? e.g. Do you make it up as you go, or do you completely prepare the whole podcast or just write some notes or…? And what software are you using (using what configs), headphones etc?
It’s just that myself and a friend will start doing some podcasts soon as another project.
