I’ve just started up a column at the Flying Solo website. Flying Solo is the brainchild of authors Robert Gerrish and Sam Leader who co-wrote the book that shares the title with the website, Flying Solo - How to go it alone in business. It is an Australian focused website dedicated to solists (they prefer that term over solopreneurs), otherwise known as people that work independently and enjoy self employment.
I was contacted a few months ago by Robert and introduced to the website. I noticed they didn’t have a dedicated online marketing/web business author so I thought I might contribute some articles devoted to my favourite topic. My first couple of articles are abridged reprints of my articles from this blog but I have some plans for a few original articles specifically devoted to independent professionals and how they can use the web to improve their business.
My first article went live yesterday - Beating the home business blues.
There is quite a diverse back catalogue of articles at Flying Solo so if you are an independent professional, especially an Aussie one, I suggest you check out the site.

Well done Yaro,
Robert Gerrish is well-regarded in Australia in the small/home business community so you should do really well out of this.
Thanks for spreading the word on Flying Solo, Yaro. It is terrific to have you as a contributor and we look forward to hearing more from you on the site.
Great article.
I remember you posted something similar on this blog.
It’s very true; amongst all the hectic mess, you need to have “fun” time. Or, if you don’t want to call it that, just time away from everything.
Running a business is very time-consuming, however it shouldn’t take over your life. I have yet to experience the task of fully devoting my time and energy to running my business, however I know it will be a difficult road ahead. Just as any other job, however, you need a break.
After a pre-determined, and agreed upon, alotted amount of time, take a break. You may think you don’t need it, however it is mandatory.
Again, great article.
A few of you have checked out the site and have got in touch with the question “What, no RSS?!” I can assure you it is high on our ‘to do’ list. Meantime I hope you’ll keep visiting even if you have to stick to using an old-fashioned browser for now!
Congrats on the new platform to share your views Yaro! Being a soloist (or solopreneur?) It’s a site I will have to frequent.
But yes Sam, RSS is most important
