I recorded this video for you from the Botanic Gardens in the Brisbane CBD for a change of scenery.

The video starts with a brief chat about how I can easily pack up my video recording equipment and head to the park to record a video like this, all thanks to Gideon’s Rapid Video Blogging set-up, which you can learn more about if you grab his free report – http://rapidvideoblogger.com

In the second part of the video I talk about my trip to Melbourne to talk at the first ever Problogger day, run by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett.

At the event during one of Darren’s presentations I was reminded of something I really admire about Darren’s technique as a blogger, which I reveal as a tip in the video. You will have to watch to find out what it is :-).

  • Hi Yaro,

    Great tip.

I heard/read that when you are doing a list swap, you can offer something special (in addition to the regular offer) to only the subscribers of the other list, and create a different/unique landing page addressing the subscribers of the other list. I heard that this increases opt-in rates. What are your thoughts on this?

    Kindest,
    Nabeel

    • That’s a great strategy Nabeel. We used to offer $1 trials for our courses with specific landing pages for specific affiliates, which always converted better than sending the traffic to the standard sales page.

    • You’re right. By including some unannounced bonus, that increases the opt-in rates as well, as the subscriber will see you as you’re really providing great value and you are over-delivering.

  • Hey Yaro,

Thanks, this was a great video. I really liked the tip, too. I might just use it. I was at the Melb event and really enjoyed your presentation!

    Renee.

  • Hey Yaro,

Thanks for the tip! I’m interested to know a little more about the lapel mic you were using – I’m considering video as an option for blogging and would prefer something discreet like that rather than a headset or a desktop mic.

Great to meet you at the ProBlogger day in Melbourne – hope to have other opportunities to have a chat down the track :) Catch you soon.

    Regards,
    Laneth Sffarlenn

    • Hi Laneth,

Grab Gideon’s report, he goes through all the mics, including the one I use.

  • Rob

Thanks for the tip Yaro, the new VLogs are great!

  • Hi Yaro,

I really like the idea of doing videos in a different environment – like in a park, near a lake, on a mountain top… Also, I’m really amazed by the quality of this video – unbelievable that it was done with a $150 camera. Great stuff and thanks a lot.

  • Great tip, always follow yours and Darrens Blog. Both provide amazing and very useful content.
Tip is moving in motion on my Blogs.

  • Another great video. I hope when I pluck up the nerve to start doing my own that they are as good. :)

  • Hey Yaro,

nice video… leverage is what has helped me make a full time income online – great videos, I wish my video blog post were as good! …just need more practice and confidence I guess

  • My gosh Yaro…I am not even a blogger and this post was just fascinating. I got so much out of it. Specifically the information about they type of camera you were using. And you were not squinting. You looked great. And I loved the sounds in the background. That bird was wonderful. I’m off to watch your Yaro.TV. I didn’t know about that.

I am returning to your world via Corinne Edwards. Have you seen her post about you? It’s great. She’s the reason I know about you in the first place.

Thanks so much for all you do for all of us. I’m grateful.

  • It’d be really cool if you did your next video while riding on the back of a kangaroo. Just a thought.

  • Thanks for the tips Yaro & Nabeel. I will try a different landing page for special offers and see how it goes.

  • Great video Yaro, thanks for sharing that tip. You made it very easy to understand how and when to leverage targeted traffic coming to our blog.

  • Hi Yaro, pretty neat idea video taping at a different location, the scenery was absolutely beautiful, and as a result of being outdoors the video quality was really high I felt. Good thing it didn’t rain during the video, will definitely be checking out Gideon’s Rapid Video Blogging further.

    Till then,

    Jean

  • Great video Yaro, you are really creating a ton of content this way as well. Thanks for the secret tip. It’s always good to show hwo portable the blogging lifestyle can be. All you need is a few..

  • You realize I had to watch the whole thing just hoping for a cameo by a Koala or a wallaby gone wild, right?

Riddle me this … do you outline your talks or even script your talks for your videos, or do you simply wing it and the magic happens … your inner-storyteller just goes to town?

It seems like some people can just speaketh and the insight floweth … while for others, it’s way more scripted and sculpted.

    • I’m a lyrical gangsta ;-)

    • lol JD, at least we heard a few animals making some noise in the background from time to time! Really great job on Yaro’s part though for ignoring the random noise from time to time :D

      Till then,

      Jean

Hey Yaro – hasn’t our weather been a bit crazy here in Bris lately!
Gideons report and free videos have been amazing and absolutely chocked full of info. I love using video and am in desperate need of a better setup, in particular something more portable, so have appreciated and gained so much knowledge from him and yourself.
    thanks for the great post
    cheers!

  • Great video. I’m still stunned by how much money you make from blogging. It’s unbelievable!

  • Lyn

I was reading on Darren’s blog that he thinks many people prefer to read info rather than watch it on video and he’s busy transcribing his tapes.

  • Hey Yaro,

You are a natural in front of the camera.
I hope that Darren releases his Problogger day on DVD, or even better you all come to the UK.
I have been checking out Gideons rapid video blogging. Looks good.
You guys seem to have it wrapped up in Aus.
    Good Luck
    Pete

  • Hi Yaro,

That was smart of Darren to create landing pages to target specific interests to certain audiences. I just might take up on that idea as I’m working on my newsletter as well as modifying the design. Also the sounds effects itself are wonderful here. It kind of takes away the silence which we so often have to focus on and focus harder. :) Thanks for sharing with us the video.

Thanks for the tip, it’s awesome! I will download the report, and i will use it as future reference.

  • Yet another nice video :). Btw, Melbourne rules!!

  • I think that was a great location for a video. The natural ambient sounds and scenery is much more interesting than an ordinary room for example. I hope you blend out into more such interesting settings for future videos also. Looks like it was a productive workship down under. Pretty insightful to learn about Darren and his innovative ideas.

  • Yaro,

Thanks for the tip, when we will be ready for the landing page, this will come in very handy. A few rare bloggers like you and Darren have been inspiration for many of us. Keep up the great work.

  • Great vid and tip…. just downloading the report now.

  • Love seeing the botty gardens, lovely idea to head to the great outdoors and thanks for saying hello to me too. Yes, it was a pleasure to chat as we hovered over the tea and biccies! Darren is a very clever man, thanks for reminding me of the tip. I’ve just implemented the ‘start a series’ tip which one of you clever bloggers raised and recommended as a way to increase subscriptions. Only done part 1 of my first series so far – it’s called Blog Writing Magic:) But guess what it worked already! Now I just have to write the rest of it and then do another….

:) Happy blogging and Vlogging for you. Don’t forget to visit us in Noosa sometime!

  • Hey Yaro,

Thanks for the awesome tips I will absolutely use them. I wish you could have gone a little further in detail with the Valdo because the mic tip was PRICELESS! I have to admit I was a little disappointed because I waited the entire video to see a gang of wild kangaroos or something trying to steal some camera time. LOL Cool Video!

You want to piss them off and drive them away so they will never digitally darken your doorway again. And here’s how: post videos without transcriptions. [...]
