Yaro,

I am going thru some of your older posts I remember reading back in 2006-2006...you sure have come a long way and achieved what you set out to do and what you hoped for in this and many other posts! How does it feel? What were your greatest successes and your worst investments? Please write a post anbout it, or if you have written such a post updated for 2010, let me know where it is!

BTW your achievements gives people hope they can do the same - AND an idea of a general time-line and idea of level-of-effort to do so - it definitely does not happen over night - so this will help us all manage expectations while still pressing towards the goals!

The problem with using Adsense on a blog about blogging or making money using a blog is that you only get blog type ads. Someone suggested to me to avoid the word "blog" in your writing and try and say something like "marketing diary".

Tonya - thanks for the help. I should clarify that I have made a couple of hundred dollars through affiliate sales in the nearly a year I've been running this blog, but I haven't tried up until the last month or so to monetize it. It's been more of a hobby and exposure thing for me.

I don't think AdSense style campaigns are the best way to monetize a site like this. I'll probably set up some more specific advertising opportunities for individual sponsors (like the text links on the right) but I also want to keep a balance between content and ads. Personally I don't like AdSense that much so I'll only use it sparingly.

At the moment I'm testing the yellow box ads at the bottom of posts to sell products that I think are good. I feel a lot better endorsing products that I have tried and/or know are top quality, rather than contextual based ads that I know nothing about.

So if you want to help take a look at the products I recommend and maybe one of them can scratch an itch for you.

Hi, I read this blog in my newsreader but read that you made next to nothing so came here to click on some ads and couldnt find them. Just wondered if you've thought of moving your ads to the top of the page?
