Child Sponsorship Charity Drive

Total Raised: $480

Target met – great job everyone!

With thanks to…

Back when I was in charge of MTGParadise.com I managed a successful charity drive each year. The goal of the program initially was to raise enough funds to sponsor a one child through World Vision and this was achieved in the first year, 2003. In 2004 we aimed for two children and the community raised over $900 to get us over the line, which was fantastic.

The idea behind the program was to give something back as a community. This year in September I went back to the MTGParadise community to raise the funds to renew the sponsorships for both the children. A few of the regulars once again helped out raising enough to sponsor one child. I’m not a regular presence on the forum anymore and most people have no idea who I am so it was always going to be a big ask to raise the $900 again.

Of course you can guess where I’m going with this. The charity drive is moving to Entrepreneur’s Journey since you, my readers, are now my community. The goal is to raise enough funds to renew the sponsorship for the second child, about $450 total, and I would really appreciate your support in this endeavour.

You Get Some PageRank – A Child Gets Sponsored

I’m not asking for flat out donations for nothing in return. I’m offering site-wide links on Entrepreneur’s Journey under the featured sites section down the right sidebar. These links are on every single page of this blog.

  • For donations of $25 you get a site-wide link for a month.
  • For donations of $100 or more you get a site-wide link for a full year!

I’m happy to link to most sites and blogs but of course I reserve the right to refuse to link to any sites I’m not comfortable with.

Donations of any size are gratefully accepted and I will list every donation made in this post so please be certain to send through your URL, anchor text and name either in an email to me or as a comment reply.

Donations are taken through Paypal.com and for Aussies and Canadians through bank deposit.

Yaro, This is a great cause. My wife and I followed your link and decided to sponsor a child ourselves.

Tyler that’s fantastic news about you and your wife. If you are really into letter writing you can keep in touch with your sponsored child as well which I think is a worthwhile thing to do. In fact if any of the people that make a donation want to write a letter to either of the kids give me an email and we can organise it.

[...] When I sold MTGParadise I no longer had a daily presence in the Magic community, however with the growth of this blog I had a new community and last year I asked you, my readers, to dig deep and help maintain the child sponsorship for one child. For those readers who have been with me for a while now you will know that we were successful in last year’s charity drive raising $480 – enough for one year of sponsorship for one child. [...]
