Aww man that stinks. Well if the bus driver was an honest guy he should have given you something like a signed note to allow you to go to the office and pick up your proper change. You are right about university though… that is a stressful world all its own. Yes its been said that if you walk into a room where an exam is given you will here a lot more coughing and sniffling and sneezing. Stress + lack of sleep + junk food = pretty darn sick!

Till then,

[...] Thankfully I know and heed the warning signs and I always prioritize health above everything else. I know about stress and I’ve laid out my favorite tips to reduce stress as well. When you can’t sleep or exercise or eat properly because of other aspects of your life something has to change. In my case, a little Miller time was necessary to help reset the brain for better sleep. [...]

Nice article, Yaro. I live by the motto, "Health is the greatest wealth". Your point about stress weakening the immune system is dead on.
No matter what, my health and wellness always comes first. Without it, I can't be fully productive in my life.
Everything happens in perfect time as far as I'm concerned. We're never "too late" for anything when you look at it from a broad perspective. If we are following our hearts and on a path with purpose then everything we need to fullfill that purpose will be provided precisely when it's needed.
Me finding your Blog Traffic site is testament to that! So I, too live my life at my own, unique rhythm.
Now hurry up with the Blog Traffic course, man!!! (just kiddin')

Great article again Yaro.
I think stress is a state of mind not a state of being. At least to some extent. Some people get very stressed about public speaking, while others seem to welcome the opportunity.
There are types of stress we cannot avoid like Kenny stated. It is still really how we react to the situation, not the situation itself.
I really like your point about not getting sick and the lack of stress. I think you are really on the mark with that especially.

Stress is inevitable, but it is all about how you deal with it. I have A LOT of stressors in my life, most of which I place on myself, but the reason I do this is to keep me motivated and moving forward. Being ambitious, goal oriented, etc. will naturally create stress and those who can deal with it in a constructive manner will be successful those who don't will be defeated. As you mentioned we all have to find what works well for us, for me stress isn't necessarily a bad thing if it is something you can utilize positively.

Wow...the timing of the "stress post" is amazing. Just spent the last two weeks dealing with the most stress I have every dealt with in a long time. Dealing with someone trying to sue us, at the same time dealing with the whether or not to our un-born baby has a birth defect, and a host of other ugly stresses.

The funny thing is - is that before all of these issues, I was living very much like Yaro is living now. Only small stresses to deal with. I figured that I understood stress enough then, that I could handle alot of it when the REAL stuff came along.

Well, the good news is I have dealt with it fairly well, thanks to faith, positive thinking (instead of stinky thinking), My days are not as rosy as a month ago, but I'm still here.

I believe that regardless of the level of stress and whether or not the reasons for the stress are founded, it still has to be dealt with. When the sh1t hits the fan, we need to remember that this whole existence is a gift, and no man made stress is important. We're all just grains of sand, and we should be grateful for every new day and breath we take.

Great post Yaro.

[...] Like most really useful lessons, opportunity cost seems critically obvious yet isn’t applied often. It’s just a way of approaching a problem or looking at things, so who cares. Well changing the way you think is your greatest key to success, a lesson that Yaro Starak and Pamela Slim both hit on today (Mondays are great days for blogs). [...]

I can see where you are coming from when you say that you need a little stress from deadlines to complete university papers, job tasks etc, but let me put it this way...

Let's say you have assignments to do that are on topics you thoroughly enjoy. You passion for the subject means you will eagerly jump in and start work on your essays not because you have a deadline, but because you enjoy it. The expansion of your knowledge and expression of ideas by writing the essay are the reasons you do it, not because you have to get it done by a certain date.

Take a bigger picture and ask yourself why you are studying the subject in the first place? It's part of the requirements of a degree. Why do you want the degree? Maybe because you hope it will help you get a job, or because it's expected of you to finish university studies because of peer/family/societal pressures.

While I don't think it possible to fill your life 100% with activities you want to do, it's certainly possible to fill the majority of your life with tasks you do out of passion and motivation, not because of deadlines.

I know people in jobs or school or university may not agree with me and in fact have trouble fathoming such a lifestyle, but I'm proof of the pudding - so are a lot of other bloggers, entrepreneurs and people out there.

They may be in the minority, but because of how they have constructed their life they can do things that fuel their passions, to express themselves, to indulge in creative output - all from a motivation to improve their own and other peoples lives. If you aim for this lifestyle then you will understand what it's like to truly live 99% stress free.

Some mental pressure is important to finish the work. Like when you are in college you will not feel like finishing the project by leaving a cool life unless or untill this stress bug doesnt bug you.
In this article you mentioned some very nice points like counting life is numbers, physical health is most important. Except one thing, deadline doesn’t matter, well, in your profile it doesn’t but others can’t get this wonderful opportunity even if they want. There are certain rules like finish the work with deadline or get dead. And there are people who can work under deadline only, like as you said in the starting- university days.

Hmm Whilst I agree with most of what you said Yaro, I do think for somethings, especially Uni assignments, Stress is the biggest incentive todo work! I know personally that I feed on stress when it comes to uni assignments, hence why they never get done till the last bloody minute!

Otherwise, for myself right now, blogging is something that I do at my own pace, I love writing and I love doing it and I have never tried to create a deadline for myself either. It is also good that my work environment doesn't push me into deadlines. Having ran my own business with a shop front and all for 2 years I have dealt a great deal with client deadlines and the like, and all I can say is, I am glad I sold up and I am on my way to become a proper blogger :D
