I have been involved in Internet Marketing consulting since 1995 and the thing that has impressed me about Aweber is they are incredibly consistent all these years. They constantly follow up and email updates, training, and have great support. We review them and recommend them in our WebSuccessToday.com Web Services Review. Very good company! We also recommend GetResponse.

Concerning the whole spam issue it has always been this way in direct marketing, people will make request and forget they did it later. But, ironically thats the whole point of autoresponders is to strike while the request or need is hot. It’s simply the best method regardless of those few hassles that ultimately come with it.

Thanks for the tips. I was especially gratified to hear that I am not the only one getting a huge amount of spammy optins to my list. Have you heard of any plugins or tools for 1shoppingcart that combat this? I see a lot of optin forms are now requiring you to enter text from a graphic. I’d love to see this in 1shoppingcart.

Have to agree with Sucker – people have no patience or just assume your email is spam because they don’t remember the joined.

That’s why it’s important to send mail consistently so they are reminded why they are getting your mail and it doesn’t come out of the blue. For the same reason it is important to stay on topic.

I use Aweber, too, it’s great for double opt-in newsletters.

The only problem I have with double opt-ins is when you get spam complaints – it just pisses you off more than usual, knowing that these people confirmed they were interested two times!

good advice. it may also be good to mention that using your own e-list software on your own computer is risky if you aren’t compliant with spam laws. i had a friend who was sending out legitimate confirmation emails to their customers and a few accidentally marked them as spam and got their server banned for a few months. if you’re on a third-party e-list system, you don’t have that problem.

I am a big fan of Aweber and its autoresponder tools. I think its gold for sending text emails.

I just did a little post on building an email marketing list and perhaps it might be good for using in conjunction with Aweber or GetResponse.
