I’m writing this from the World Internet Summit in Melbourne. Thankfully I can pick up a Wi-Fi signal so I can do some blog posts while I’m here.
I want to start with an innovative “live” event that Mike Filsaime is conducting during the course of the summit.
He’s releasing a new free report called The Resource Report, which outlines all the resources Mike uses to run his business.
You find out what companies he hosts his websites, registers domain names, what email autoresponder he uses, what shopping cart, payment processor, teleconference provider, membership management software and a bunch of other programs he uses every day.
Mike provides his biased opinion of each program based on his own experiences, so if you want to know what software and systems one of the top Internet marketers use to run his business, this short report should fill the gaps.
The report is completely free and you can download it here -
Unique Launch
What’s unique about the launch of this report is, for at least a week, Mike is not promoting the report via his own list or any of his usual joint venture partners. He’s allowing only the attendees at the World Internet Summit to sign up download the report first, tell friends and promote it.
As you will see when you go to download the report Mike is using his Butterfly Marketing system to deliver this book, so when you sign-up you are an instant affiliate as well. There is a one-time-offer presented at the point of signing up to get the free report, and as per standard if you refer people who purchase the one-time-off you get a commission.
The reason why Mike is holding off his own promotion of his report is because he wants the attendees at this seminar to see the power of viral marketing.
He’s effectively created a product and launching with no existing list and no joint venture partners. He’s only using the potential for viral marketing by leveraging just the people attending the World Internet Summit this weekend.
The hope is by Sunday when the summit ends he can report back a certain number of sign-ups and one time offer sales, demonstrating the potential to launch with nothing, and thanks to viral marketing, have a successful launch.
Like what I’m doing now, many of the attendees at this event will use their list or blog or friends to recommend the report. I’m very curious to see how well this little experiment goes and I’ll do my best to report back the results on Sunday or Monday.
Download The Report
Like a similar report Rich Schefren released listing the resources he uses online, I found Mike’s report handy and there’s always two or three software packages I didn’t know about that will save me time or solve a problem.
For example I’ve been wondering what host Mike uses to run his Butterfly Marketing packages because I want to feel confident that when I release my book via Butterfly Marketing that the server won’t go down if things get crazy.
Again, you can get the report here - The-Resource-Report.com

Yaro,
Thats nice that another marketer is giving another “YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THIS RIGHT NOW” tool for everyone to download for free.
It seems like every other week theres another download that will make you better. I’m pretty new to all this, and I can imagine the frustration for someone who is actually looking at doing this (internet marketing slash make money online) would be just completely overwhelmed.
Luckily my internet business is fully encapsulated, where if someone who wanted to know how to do what I do (stock market trading), would be able to do so and learn from step one, right to the end. Then you just maintain your level by continuing education.
I’m sure this is probably very similar to any other type of business, even if it happens to be online.
But Yaro, the problem is this:
It seems like every other day, another self-proclaimed guru (well, Filsaime is a well known name in the biz - that even I know) selling another book, which is JUST another advertisment for ANOTHER book in what seems like a never ending series.
Yaro, you’ve bought these products, tried them out, you have a well running business, and I’m glad you find time to blog - and thats why I keep coming back to your site, and I comment - because I feel what you say is relevant.
So the question is, Yaro: WHERE IS A GOOD PLACE TO START?
See, if you ask me, “Kunal, where is a good place to start [in the stock market]” I would say, first and foremost get a book by Warren Buffet - see how the true master did it. Then you’ll begin to gain a direction of where you would like to head into. Simple as that - you start at one point, and take your own path to the end.
But online, it seems like there is a ‘new’ Buffet every single day, that its is VERY hard to find even a BEGINNING.
There is no direction. It’s just one big toss of information. Where do you even begin?
Do you know what I mean?
Glad your liking the course, and I would like to know if Filsaime reaches his goal, and I’m sure he will, because he is Filsaime, another Internet Marketing Guru, giving a product which “YOU NEED RIGHT NOW”
Hi Kunal,
Good question! Unfortunately I can’t offer a specific recommendation without knowing your own motivation, goals, current situation both financially and experience-wise, etc.
You ask this question at a great time since at the event I am at typing this (World Internet Summit in Melbourne) I’ve witnessed four presentations today, each ending with a sales pitch for a product to teach you how to make money online.
One was with ebooks.
One was with ebay.
One was doing interviews.
One was with a course called “millionaire mindset”.
Each presenter is very successful at what they do online. You could, if you bought just one of their products, attempt to replicate their success, and I believe as long as you took enough action you would succeed.
Most people don’t take enough action, hence they get no result, either good or bad.
If you are ready to take action, the next problem you face is what opportunity do you go for?
If you have absolutely no idea whatsoever, my advice would be to sample the free materials and see who “speaks to you” best. You will get a feel for which experts or gurus you connect with and, more importantly, what system you feel you could take home and actually implement immediately.
If you don’t think you could implement, keep researching. You need to narrow it down to what very specific problems you have and find the exact answer to that problem.
In my case when I was a beginner to the web, back in the late nineties, I learnt by setting up my own website and writing articles on a hobby. I didn’t study anything passively, I learnt through taking action.
It wasn’t until the last 2-3 years that I actually started to buy Internet marketing products from experts to fill the gaps in my knowledge.
I’m not sure that answers your question, so I’ll end with perhaps the answer - if you feel overwhelmed with information and you don’t know where to start, you haven’t accurately determined what your problem is.
If it’s just “I need to learn how to make money online” that’s not specific enough and that’s when then information overload problems occur. You have a fuzzy question and consequently it appears that there are too many answers.
Define your problem and the answer will present itself.
Yaro
Wow, Yaro! Actually I came here to leave a comment, but started by reading the two already there, and I must say - what an answer you came up with! You should make a blog post out of it. It’s brilliant.
I totally agree with you - few people actually take action, and most people want making money online to be easy. Well, it’s not easy, but it’s enjoyable. There’s the big difference between having a dayjob and making money on the Internet.
And now for my original comment: I like the idea about this experiment, but do you think a Mr. Nobody could join the World Internet Summit in Melbourne, tell a few people about their new free ebook, and make it viral?
Right now I’m strugling to go beyond the Danish public I’m used to writing to. In Denmark I’m already know by many people, because I’ve published more than 20 books. Many are translated, but not into English, so out here I’m just Mrs. Nobody. So therefore my interest in the subject.
Britt Malka
“Most people don’t take enough action, hence they get no result, either good or bad.”
Pure gold, Yaro, pure gold.
I can be a perfectionist sometimes and I’m beginning to realise what a waste that can be.
I’ve taken some action recently that I’m not necessarily 100% proud of but the fact is I’ve taken some action.
This opens the door to falling flat on my face and losing my (as-yet non-existant) credibilty and allowing me to learn from my mistakes. Hell, I may even profit from my mistakes which opens the door to profiting further from my mistakes by journalising and publishing them. Time will tell. Either way, if nobody else benefits from my experiences than at least I will.
The fact is that you learn nothing by doing nothing and you learn something by doing somthing.
It’s better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven’t.
I have been pretty sceptical about Mike Filsaime and Butterfly Marketing until I saw him do the live demonstration with his BM product to promote this new free ebook.
Mike is a great marketer and I would feel more confident now buying any of his products after getting a better feel for his business.
I was also sceptical about attending seminars like the World Internet Summit. After only two days, I have changed my mind and have found it to be very informative and motivating.
Yaro,
Thanks for the response.
Now, maybe you or maybe some of your readers can provide insight (as I think this posting can really provide depth into their own endeavors). But here’s my situation:
I DO have a niche (stock market), and I HAVE written an ebook. I started selling my ebook on Ebay (now that I look back, I ask myself WHY I started selling an information product on ebay, when most people who are going there are looking for clothes, or furniture, etc). But, nonetheless, the ebook did pretty good!
Then one day I had a lighting bolt strike me, and I was like “DUH, why don’t I look at setting up this system in a common area where there can be much more of an audience - ie a website, and target people over there”
This was about a week ago.
Since then, I have set up a website, set up all the backend process (payment details, as well as email campaign, designed the webpage)
And now I am at a point where I am starting to get into Adwords (you may recall I had left a comment on your Google “slapping” post).
I didn’t, however, buy the Perry book, because check this out:
I started my adwords campaign two days ago. This morning, I check my stats, and I have 120,000+ impressions (but only 34 clicks), with an average CPC of 0.19. I did use pay particular attention to the Quality of the Keywords (as your post talked about), and I’m getting OK to GOOD ratings on all of them.
So maybe something is going alright.
To measure the people who are serious, I have a free downloadable preview of my ebook on my site - but you have to give your email address. And at this point, I’m averaging a download every 3 hours or so (sometimes 2-3 downloads at certain hours).
It looks like things are going pretty good, and personally, I feel two things:
1. I should step back, and analyze the process - ie how to make the current set up better (adword targeting, my landing page, etc)
2. but the other half wants to rev up the process to really start getting more people to come to the site, and download, and ultimately purchase.
this is my first ebook, and my first crack at doing anytype of internet selling like this.
but I am pretty computer saavy, so I did have a bit of knowledge about what to do when actually looking at doing it.
Thanks Yaro, and everyone else! I look forward to your reply.
Oh right … Yaro, to answer comment - I am willing to do whatever it takes.
Thats not a problem.
It’s basically finding a direction, as my first post talked about. Just weeding out the information from the people who KNOW what they are talking about, and reveal a process - FROM - the people who are just selling some product for their own Paypal accounts to explode.
And Im sure many people, including yourself, can relate to what I’m saying.
Kunal,
Getting a book that deals with what you are trying to do is a great place to start. In your shoes, you probably would want Perry Marshall’s books because you are just getting into AdWords and it is a quality product (I have never heard anything bad about it). In a nutshell, Perry’s book tells you to split test the hell out of all of your keywords and ads, and constantly dump the poorer performing ad. He has a lot of specific examples about how to format your ads and what items are worth playing around with and testing which is what makes the book worth buying, but the biggest takeaway is split testing.
The important thing is to start doing something, and then once you have an idea on it get the education you need to improve that. If you wanted to stick with the eBay route, you should get a book on eBay. If you wanted to create a membership site, you should get butterfly marketing. If you wanted to do a product launch, you should get Product Launch Formula. Don’t bother buying all of them unless or until you want to test that technique. Since right now you are using adwords, then Perry Marshall’s book is the place to start.
Yaro,
Thanks for the link. I’m just disappointed that neither OTO includes the butterfly marketing software, heheh. I already own the eBook.
That reply should have been a post, Yaro. Actually several of the replies could be posts.
Kunal, you could pick any one of them and due well. As long as you stick to it. You could even do it with just a blog. They all will give you most of what you need to know. The main reason people fail it that they give up before they fully do one thing and start another.
There are those that say you can find all the information you want in forums or just by searching. You can, but it will take a long time and you will waste a lot of time and money figuring out what works. You will probably give up before you do. Most do.
Pick one that sounds good. That sounds like something that will work for you. Then make it work before you decide to shift to something else.
Judging from your Adwords stats above, you may really what to look at Perry Marshall first. Imagine what would happen if your adwords campaign brought you more traffic and improved CPC and conversion. You might not need to do anything else at this point.
Just a thought
James
