I attended the World Internet Summit in Auckland, New Zealand this July 2009…

It certainly was an AWESOME summit…I really applaud the efforts of Tom & Brett involved in organising such an event.

All the speakers delivered beyond my expectations, it was great fun to meet like minded people and the have this JV deal thingy going which is a great idea!!!

Not to mention the unique internet challenge, what a novel idea!!!…and I believe this time it set a record for the total amount of over $30k!!!

Just FYI, I was so inspired by the event, that I decided to setup a forum setup exclusively for the attendees and called it WORLD INTERNET FORUM…forum of the attendees, for the attendees and by the attendees!

Hi Yaro

I love your truthful write up on the WIS. I attended this event twice but I’ll not attend another one.

It’s more like a “buffet style” event where every marketers tried to serve you their dish. Only good for newbies who wanted to know more about internet marketing but be warned that they may be overwhelmed.

That year when I attended, one attendee left me a lasting impression. He bought from almost every marketers (ended up $20K poorer) but I’ve not see him “make it” online.

The point is, this kind of event is only good to get a feel what truly resonate with you. Thereafter, one should go deep and learn from ONE successful teacher, and stick with it.

The problem is alot of people end up chasing for the “new shiny thing” and end up with nothing.

Regardless of who to follow, ultimately it is crucial to WORK on the business. There is no so call effortless success. Those are hype.

Hi,
I attended an Internet Marketing Seminar end July 2008 in Melbourne. I have seen some of the people you are talking about. since I am a beginner the info was overwhelming. I joined few programs and working on them part time. I totaly agree with you. Some had sale pitch, however I got motivated a lot as well. Tell me when is the next world internet summit in Melbourne or Australia? I can’t make other countries. I have two tickets (end in March 2009) that I would like to make use of. Hi Siita,

Some email autoresponders have a click tracking and open tracking function, but nothing is full proof.

There is no way to know for sure everyone receives your email unless you speak to every subscriber you have in person.

The only advice I have is use dedicated providers like infusion, getresponse and aweber because they negotiate with the big ISPs to get their domains and IPs whitelisted. Even that is not a guarantee of email delivery though.

Always enjoy your not out to please anyone approach to writing..I have appreciated comments on your favourites as sales babble hype ***** me to tears and has me off the site/email in a flash.
I remembered a comment you made about ‘Keeping it real’ in your own business when I first began reading your bloggs and have followed your lead when replying to email inquiries which I do by replying individually and attaching my info pack details..I’m a one person designer who sells individual products ..What id like to know is whether there is a way to know if emails get through ..quite often I follow up with a phone call..but often when I havent heard back from people I am unsure if my email actually got through..often I need to attach small file product photos ..is there a way to ensure I dont end up in their deleted bin along with spam…Remember they have requested info from me .. I have also signed up to get a great a newletter for small business , which is where I learnt about you ..but each week it goes straight to my deleted mail.. I cant figure out how to undo this… any suggestions.

Excellent write up Yaro. Like you I feel that the strident “noise” and fomalaic approach to so many of these “oppporunities” makes it difficult to spearte the wheat from the chaff.

I _know_ those long, repetitious and nearly moronic sales pages produce results … the Ronco Knife guys are still in business after all these years, but I only have so many hours in the day and I can only stomach so much.

Those with a strong enough ‘seat’ and clear enough writing skills who devote the time to reports like this are a help to us all. Thanks again for all the free help you’ve given me and thousands of others.

Hey Kunal – thanks for the comments and no worries about “hijacking” my post.

The first thing I have to say to you is if you are generating good traffic with AdWords, then definitely get Perry’s ebook.

Put it this way – if just one piece of advice you get from Perry doubles your conversion rate would you consider it a good thing?

It’s people like yourself who already get good results from AdWords who stand to benefit the most from education from guys like Perry. Remember if worse comes to worst and you get absolutely nothing out of the book, just ask for a refund.

Now, to answer your question regarding products for traffic – to be honest there are no “products”. My studies in SEO are probably the most beneficial in terms of traffic today, but that’s an ongoing process.

I recommend trying other Pay per click programs if you already do AdWords well. Try Yahoo and MSN PPC systems and you could probably add another 25% of traffic.

Outside of that I’d recommend an affiliate program and an extensive affiliate recruitment drive. Affiliate traffic is gold.

Actually, Yaro, what are the top 5 products which have helped you in generating traffic?

My adwords campaign is going exceptionally well – so I think I’m gonna pass on Perry’s book for the moment. But I need more traffic!

Any suggestions?

Yeah, its easy for someone to get overwhelmed by the various methods of internet money-making ideas.

I think the goal is to start ‘somewhere’, and just test each stage. The stages that are lacking, you can get the product, and start using it. If you have some sort of foundation, it makes the information easier (and more effective).

Most people want to start from scratch, and ‘get rich quick’, so they buy all these products, and what usually happens: absolutely nothing.

Simply because its overwhelming

I like how you name drop – you’re worse than a entertainment-tabloid reporter.

Do you have a page of people who you’ve bought products from, and how it has helped you?

I didn’t really know anyone you mentioned, well, maybe like two (funny, i JUST read about that couple who specialize in ebooks).

But I would like to find out what you’ve tried, and continue to use.
