Exactly! It's working smarter rather than harder. Smart work means you’re more likely to reach your goals while Hard work means neglecting other areas of your life.

Personally, I'd focus on australia and get your systems right here. Think about how you can leverage your advertising and business model. Sounds way to manual at this point.

Have you thought about bringing someone into your business to manage torronto? You'd profit less in the short term, but it would help you to find more 'leverage' in your current business.

Are you getting bored of better edit? the ideas of starting other businesses suggest to me that youre getting restless. What works for me is to think about longer term goals, and put in place a framework to get there. Focus has been a big challenge for me.

That said, I'm hardly a professional. All know about business has been learned in the past 18 months. My project has been in development for 7 months, and I still haven't sold a single thing, and don't plan to for another 2 months at least :)

P.S this is the first time I've ever bothered reading a blog. You write some very interesting stuff!

Cheers

Hi Huge,

Big thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it, especially as you are the first to offer a constructive opinion rather than an advertisement :)

Your comments about focusing on Australia are good advice and so far based on my time here in Canada I think I will return to reinvesting profit back into Australian side of things. I will continue to maintain a poster run here in Toronto as I now have a good contact who can manage my campaign and provided the results are worth it I will keep it up. I won't look to expand any further overseas however, and I'm going to concentrate more on a deeper expansion into Sydney and Melbourne for the remainder of this year.

Regarding your comments about bringing someone in to manage Toronto - do you mean an employee to actually be proactive here, like a manager/marketeer or just like I have done already, pay a contact to handle my poster campaigns?

Many times I have thought of hiring a full time employee to handle certain aspects of the business but I just can't justify that with my current cashflow. I have thought about perhaps getting very serious and looking for investors, get a good amount of cash in the bank and then hire a couple of employees, perhaps a marketing manager and a tech person, but I think I prefer things to grow slowly like they are now rather than having to try and sell the business plan to investors. That's not how I want to spend my time.

Like you, focus has been a big challange for me, in a sense. I tend to work on many things at once and I can't just do one thing - which is why a normal job I don't think would fit for me unless it was extremely dynamic. BetterEdit also goes through slow periods so if there are not any jobs coming through I tend to be working on a web project of some sorts. However I can say that every project I'm currently working on that isn't BetterEdit has good synergy with BetterEdit and could be of benefit to BetterEdit if it takes off.

And yes I am bored often, but even worse, I'm very impatient. I want success NOW, but I'm fully aware that it doesn't happen instantly. You have to live your story, not jump to the end. That awareness doesn't make it less frustrating by any means though.

Anyway, enough from me - what is your business that you speak of? Can you share more details? You are selling something - product or service?

Again, thank you very much for your feedback and please keep it coming!

Hello Yaro.

Your posts are very great! Keep them coming.

I really share your feelings about wanting things to happen NOW and working on everything and nothing :) Not exactly nothing, but you are still thinking about new ideas, new possibilities. In short, you have BIG ENERGY and you want to UTILISE it. I can feel the enterpreneur fire in your heart.. because I am the same. Little impatient, full of creative ideas, but lack the time to implement them and if we are talking about hiring sb, the problem as you stated is, how to find sb who can you trust.

I am also avid reader and I have days when I am more reading than working. But in these days the creativity is starting and new opportunities arise. Hmm, but how to realise them :(

I very like your idea about shared enterpreneur office. I would like to accomplish this too. I have a BIG problem to find the same minded people, maybe I am very picky. But for me it's better to be picky than to settle for mediocrity. I have set of codes I monitor unintentionally in every person and I know about only 1 or 2 ppl that I know physically that have passed. Much more on the internet. It would be great to work around them. We could positively change the world in some way and that's very important for me.

I don't like doing business for business, for money.. I like working to make something positive. To make better world. Better enviroment for ppl. Money will come along. That's my opinion on business.

I wish you very luck about finding the right way and riding the best river of your life.

If you like I would be really interested about chatting with you via the ICQ or mail.

My icq is 6694 05 19

Hi Neon,

Thank you very much for your comments and yes you are right, I do want BIG success now and am impatient to walk the road slowly like most business people have to. I'm not entirely sure I have big energy, I am quite lazy, but when I focus and am motivated those 2 hours in a day are very productive (the 80/20 rule strikes again!).

I'm curious as to where you are from and what is your business? Your writing seems to have an 'accent' if text on a screen can have one.

I totally agree with your comments about business making positive change and not just being about money. Right now though, when budgets are tight, it is often hard to not think about growing a business purely for monetary goals.

I am from Czech Republic and it explains my vague english. I am being webmaster since leaving prematurely the High school. I am now 24, but never thought about my work as business. I was thinking too low and still was waiting for downfall instead of taking responsibility and working hard. It was in this manner until now.

I have quite changed after starting to read, think, implement ideas and read more to stay motivated. To not be pushed down by any mistake. Instead to be happy for every mistake, for every problem, because it's the time when I really grow, u know.

But in my overall CHANGE lies something else. Something, many ppl will disagree with. I started to eat very healthy foods. In particular, the healthy system is called macrobiotic. I am trying to explain how much energy one could acquire from foods in my blog. I mean life energy. Energy to work all the day long and to do everything with fun. Because junk foods are slowing us a lot. They are taking more energy to be digested than they contain in itself. Hmm.. I think I am talking too much and it could sound really stupid for somebody who never tried it.
One comment to my blog. I realised my poor English is stoping me from a productive writing. So don't take my blog any serious.

Only I can suggest is to try. As with everything. Until you try, you will never know. The same with entrepreneurship and any business and idea.

Ok, sorry for my long post about food, which could really sound quite offtopic, but for me, it isn't.

I am able to work 14 hours on maximum speed. Only problem is, the more I work, the more I read, the more I am horny for actual results of my hard work. I have to realise and remind myself many times a day, that the results are going slowly, but they will come. I have to stick with small daily goals and they will build up.

PS. as usuall, sorry for my english and typos :)
