Hi, I really liked your post. I wish you success in all that you do.
I'm now around 10 years into the IT profession as a programmer. I remember the thrill when I used to make shareware programs many years back. This sadly has changed, working for MNCs is more like being an automaton.
Over the year I've seen many of my interest changing drastically. Things I thought I would die without seem completely unimportant now.
At the back of everything I've always been interested in spirituality and knowing about that is what makes me happy.
What I've observed in most people is that they all want an answer to the question - what is a worthwhile thing to go after. All of us are after something or the other... they want a reason to do something. Many are dissatisfied with the present lives and want to know if they should continue in the same track or try a totally different thing. I sometimes think it is fear which holds back people from doing something. Even turning towards spirituality could be because you cannot trust your own judgment. I've often wondered why some people are so successful while other aren't. I have concluded that those who are so successful really want success - much more than the rest. You really have to BELIEVE that it is the most important thing in life to do.
However armed with the knowledge that your desires themselves go on changing, how can one now be obsessive about success in a particular thing and commit all energy and effort?
As you say happiness is the final goal.

As I said in previous comments, I understand you very much Yaro. I also want my success to happen NOW. Because I am really motivated by daily reading and by setting the BIG goals, as many mentors suggest, it's hard to be patient :)

I know that I should find my real purpouse in life, which I still haven't. But just now I am really happy with working hard for money. I have found PLEASURE in hard work, in developing myself, in solving problems, even to seek them. Because problems are challenges and we GROW through accomplishing these challenges.
I think it's my main motivator, to GROW. And the growth value is for me above the "to be rich" value.

I would like to prove to me and others I am not another consuming person. That I am the creator, I make things happen, I don't dream about them, I make my dreams happen. This is my little motto. I have big dreams and many of us have. But the difference is, who is brave enough to start to work on them on daily basis. But I have to be more patient and to concentrate on daily goals, which will build the big picture.

But I can't honestly answer the question why I would like to be rich. For me, being rich means to dispose of immense FREEDOM. To have enough free TIME to do what I really like. But as I said. I really like everyday hard working for now, so for me it's only a question of why should I watch TV if I can make some money and it's general truth that it's always better to have money than not.

I should more relax in the end but I am feeling so bad when doing nothing meaningful :)

I believe that success is a few things.

1) Its a alot of failure and battling to overcome (Personally and in Business)
2) It has to do with your approach to the world. Pesimist or Optimist? I am an optimist
3) Calculated Risks

Now i've had some failures in my past, those failures, big and small will amount to my overall success in the end.

Success for me would to be financially free, able to work with young and talented minds through out the world, and raising a good family, and following my hopes and dreams with all the energy i have.

If i am a billionaire someday, it won't be for the money it'll be loving what i am doing... that is the beginning of success for me.

Once i am able to generate enough money to live off of that will be a success. Everyone's life is full of successes... so why bother thinking you're a failure? Everyone fails... only winners get back up again!

Great post Yaro - maybe a topic you could take to the YNOT forum?

I'd like to put a big long comment here as well but I could pretty much sum it up with "ditto".

Most of us want what you're talking about - financial freedom, but earnt in our own way.

I don't desire to be filthy rich, but I'd like a coupla houses, freedom to travel, freedom not to work if I choose - freedom to do whatever the hell I want, when I want (within reason).

Also there's that sense of satisfaction that comes from spurning the corporate route but eventually (hopefully!) making it, building something and **adding value** to the lives of your staff, your customers and your community.

Rant over.

Why to be RICH and rush for money? Aim to GROWTH instead and don't avoid challenges

Something more about me from my comments at Yaro's blog.

Maybe it's not categorized properly and these posts have nothing to do with macrobiotic, but here are the reasons why I post it here:
1. They have much to say about me, if anyone interested. ...
