Ed Dale and friends are running their annual Thirty Day Challenge program this time starting in August. Here’s what the program is about:
In a nutshell… The Thirty Day Challenge is about making your first $10 online. For a full 30 days we are going to be showing you exactly how to start your own Internet business and generate your first income online without spending a dime.
Ed emailed me about the program and offered this explanation of what the program will be like this year. It is completely free and designed for newbies, so I agreed to blog about since I expect many of you who read my blog are new to Internet business and are on limited budgets. Here’s what Ed wrote to me.
From Ed:
“I created the thirty day challenge in 2005, after I sold my 38 web sites for five million dollars (which was very cool for me). Running a business on the Internet is simply the best business to be in but unfortunately there was so much hype and false promises from people teaching all sorts of dubious strategies, which I knew from experience (and making a lot of mistakes) did not work.
The other thing that really upset me was all these people saying that they were making tens of thousands of dollars a month online. Sure you can do it, but it takes a lot of work. It was sad to me that people had their hopes raised high only to have them dashed a month or so later when they had not made their “tens of thousands of dollars”. What a waste of enthusiasm! I knew that if people made just a dollar online - that was the crucial thing - that was something you could build on…
I was angry but what could I do about it.
Just after I sold my sites in May of 2005 I was in New York and I found this intriguing book at the Barnes and Nobel on Union Square. It was all about a group of people who every November sat down and tried to write a novel in thirty days. How cool was that (and scary - the rules were that the novel had to be 50,000 words, that’s 1667 words a day for those calculator types!).
Then it hit me….
What if I ran a totally free - zero hype - internet course teaching people everything I know about Internet Marketing. The goal of the thirty days - make a single damn dollar with their own product (excuse my french!). I would get people into teams and we would support each other through thirty days. It was crazy but it just might work.
So in July of 2005, 927 hardy soles started out on the Thirty Day Challenge, and at the end of them - 27 people had made there first dollar (a further 112 made it in the 60 days after it). What a ride it was and some of those thirty day challenge newbies have gone on to be some of the best Internet marketers on the planet!
The challenge was even bigger in 2006, and now in 2007 we will have our biggest and best challenge yet and of course it’s totally free and their are no hidden catches. In fact there are a few ground rules
- Totally Free - you don’t need a single dollar to participate
- No Pitching, No Selling - When ti first started out - people thought that there was some catch - they kept waiting to be sold something - they never were.
- No computer experience necessary - seriously. Every part of the thirty day challenge is video based so you can watch along and see exactly how to do each step.
- Hype Free - This is all about a very clever process - it’s all about the training -That’s what we want you to concentrate on.
In fact, I know a lot of people who use the thirty day challenge to introduce spouses, friends and relatives to internet Marketing.
We are very excited about this years challenge because we are introducing a strategy that we have been testing for the past year - this strategy has been very successful for us and it uses all the cool Web 2.0 technology.
I also asked my friend West Loh, who did one of the previous 30 Day Challenges, to write a short explanation of what his experience was like. Here is what he said:
My name is West, and I’ve been asked to give a brief account of my experience with the 30 Day Challenge (30DC).
I’d heard about Ed Dale and Frank Kern for ages, way back to their underachieving days - but it wasn’t until Ed took a leap of faith (and generosity) that I decided to round up a team and dive into the 30DC. The goal was simple - to make at least $1 online within the thirty days! Sounded easy to me.
What I encountered during the 30DC was a close knit community of people all helping each other selflessly. Most people would still work during the day, but at nights and weekends they’d catchup on the latest podcast or camtasia and keep trudging along. What really amazed me though was the quality of the mentoring from Ed and his team (I believe Ed got quite sick during my challenge but he got another great member to carry on in his place). For the 30 days, Ed gave everything - answering questions, giving feedback and basically providing a service I would deem to be worth at least a few thousand dollars for nothing but love!
Although some of the stuff can be technical, it is explained in ‘over the shoulder’ videos and you really just have to copy what he does! No genius needed. Ed’s also the only internet guru I know who really shares a lot of his personal side (guitars, travel, cars and kids) and it really helps when things get hard that Ed keeps things light hearted. I always have a cackle or two listening to Ed regardless of what he’s talking about.
The 30DC was still a winner for me - even though I didn’t make my first $1 within 30 days. It came after 60. But that’s not the important thing. The internet marketing skills and contacts I made along the way have been priceless.
Recently at a marketing seminar in Brisbane I had a chance to personally meet and thank Ed for his contribution to my life.
If you’re thinking of doing the 30DC v 3.0, from what I’ve heard it’s NOTHING like the previous two. No experience required and some innovative things that even established internet marketers will find powerful. Best of all, its FREE. But please don’t value it as such. It could literally change your life! Come meet me and thousands of others. What have you got to lose?
If you are new to Internet business, you have no money but you have the next 30 days spare and you are currently not working on another project, I suggest you check out the Thirty Day Challenge. Just remember, it takes time and this is an opportunity that you should only take if you are currently not invested in another opportunity.
You can watch a video from Ed and the current Thirty Day Challenge team and decide whether it is right for you by going to -

I find that the first $10 is the most difficult. The next $1K takes about the same amount of work, then the next $5K takes the same amount of work as $1K.
And talking to people who I know make millions, they will say that it took them X years to reach six figures, and then a few months to go from six figures to a million bucks.
I love the idea of the 30 day challenge!

Interesting concept, Yaro.
I really thought it was a typo in the headline.
I mean, $10 in 30 days!!! If I don’t make $10 at least every day on a project I usually dump or sell it.
But then your post hit me: It took me years and many trials and errors to get to a position where I see myself as successful online.
I totally forgot that I was once a newbie as well.
I hope it’s a raging success for all those that participate.
Thanks for the heads up, Yaro. If I’m not working on my existing site, I may probably sign up. But I’ve to agree it’s a great concept.
Cheers, Ellesse
I was a newbie once and it took ages to find a way to make online money, but blogging did the trick and with that I found something I really enjoy doing… For all the newbies out there: hang on and you’ll get there!
Just signed up after reading all the testimonials. Can’t wait to see how it goes! Thanks for the heads up Yaro
Well, I’ve signed up for the 30 day plan. Hopefully with the ideas in this plan, by the end of the 30 days I will have made my first $10 online.
Yeah, if you aren’t currently involved in another project…there’s the rub…heheh.
I made over $300 last week, but I’m always interested in learning more about making money online. I’m going to have to do better than that to reach my goal.
One Man. One Year. $100,000 online. How’s he doing it?

Yaro, thanks so much for posting this! I’ll have my other half sign up, since I’m busy enjoying (and trying to keep up with!) the plethora of materials for your Mastermind course.

I will participate too, but I know I will make way more than just $10!
I have signed up and part of a team. His videos are nicely done.
[…] Think you can make 10 Bucks Online in 30 Days? This is interesting… Yaro Stark blogs about Ed Dale’s Thirty Day Challenge in which he shows internet newbies how to cross that crucial chasm to earning money online. Dale says that the lessons learned along the way to making that first dollar online are the most crucial element of starting a business online. It’s a very interesting read and sounds like a fun challenge for newbies or those already making money online or who may want to venture into something new. […]
I’ll sign up right now. Thank Yaro you for this information. I think that the first 30 days are the most difficult to earn moeny, but I’ll give a try. Wish me luck!
Sounds interesting.
He sold his 38 websites for five million? Even more interesting
This is an interesting topics. I have signed up and hopefully able to do it better by more than $10.
Looking forward to know more about it.
My daughter April has joined up to be in your competition, says she is going to show me how to make sales because you are going to teach her, lol.
I have to do this, I have just gotta know, how was that sign up video produced on the competitions main page, please please tell me.
Thanks from one mum who is going to be watching your competition up close and personal. Have lots of fun everyone, Linda
The idea sounds funny - but it should not be to hard to make $10 even from nothing?
I signed up for this as well. Seems like a fun idea to compare with other new web site owners who are looking to launch their product to the world.
The 30 day challenge sounds way cool. It is all about taking the first step - and as we all know that is often the hardest step to take. Cool idea.
Hey Yaro have you check out the upcoming Postiecon Conference. It is a gathering of bloggers sharing their ideas and knowledge on making blogs into a successful money making enterprise. Have a perusal and let me know what you think.
Cheers.
I have already joined. This is such a good opportunity that it just cannot be wasted. Even though I have already made that much, it is nice to see how other people do it, and to just remind myself of the basics.

Thanks for promoting this program Yaro. I am signing up and will plan to write about my learning and success experiences on Idea Sellers.
A 30 days challenge is a wonderful idea. Getting you site to make 10 dollars is not easy in the first 30 days. I just started a new site. you article has made me take the challenge.
Hi Yaro,
I am Rahul Nimawat from India. Thanks for such a nice post (and useful too!) I have already signed up and hope to have more than 10 $
Regards

I have a blog about Massive Online Games, and recently changed my theme. As part of this I got rid of the adsense which had made only about $30 over the last eight months, and some other banners. In their place I put just three text links to some game guides . I had given up on monetising the blog and expected maybe to make a few dollars.
As well as that I decided to see if I could improve my readership with a small Stumbleupon campaign. I paid up sixty dollars with a five dollar a day spend for a hundred visitors a day.
Fourteen days later, I’ve not only made my first ten dollars. I’ve made my first four hundred dollars. What a hoot!

I thought about joining, but I’m currently working on a project (that also has already made me over $10 online), so I did not join this one. I would have loved to hear all the advice and try it out.
There’s a funny part in the video on the site, that I hadn’t even noticed at first. Ed talks about the 30DC and the date change from July to August “which is really cool, because August actually HAS 30 days.”
I only noticed this because I was reading Problogger’s “31 days to build a better blog” today…and thought “but…August only has 30 days, or …”
Anyway, I would love to hear some of the experiences of the participants of this program.

I have been sitting with some ideas and this is perfect timing. I want to live to work not work to live.
This sounds like an interesting promotion/event and wish everyone involved success. I would join but I’m far past that $10 mark as I’m sure that many of your readers are ;).
What is The 30 Day Challenge All About?
Rather than retype what’s already been written about the 30 Day Challenge, I’m going to give you a couple links to where you can read all about it from other bloggers.
Here’s a quote from Yaro Starak’s blog:

I am participating in the 30DC and yup also doing BMM I figured I will get ahead one way or another,if I keep trucking along.
