Leverage A Profitable Market - Jonas Homber Makes Video Editing Free and Easy

“I wanted to start a revolution,” says Jonas Hombert, creator of Jaycut video editing software.

Jonas HombertJonas is the definition of “leveraging a profitable market”. He created Jaycut in 2006 and just recently opened the site for beta-testing. Jonas, a 20 year old entrepreneur from Stockholm, Sweden started working on the software when he noticed how big video sharing sites like YouTube were becoming. Like all good ideas, Jaycut was inspired by an idea that filled a need. So many videos on YouTube are complete junk, that stand to be improved by a bit of post-production editing. This is where Jonas saw his opportunity.

What sets Jaycut apart from it’s competitors such as Adobe Premiere Elements, is that you don’t have to download any software to use it. In fact, you don’t even have to BUY anything… Jaycut is completely free. It allows users to edit, mix, and mash video before placing it on popular video sharing sites such as, YouTube and MetaCafe. It even has social networking functions that allow you to collaborate with friends.

Jonas hasn’t gone without a bit of press lately either. He was recently featured in Business Week, won numerous awards, and he was even selected as one of the top 80 young entrepreneurs for the Future Entrepreneurs of the World conference in Sydney last summer. All this for creating a product that’s still in beta! Look for big things from Jonas Hombert and Jaycut in the future. With video sharing taking over the web, he has just placed a firm foundation on a busy Internet street corner.

Wow! Thanks so much for this post and link. I have just decided to “get with the times” and make some videos for youtube. The biggest thing holding me back has been WHAT editing software will I use — this answers that questions nicely! Jonas is inspiring and I wish him the best of luck with his venture! Thanks again! Gratefully, Jenny

I’m with Justin - what sort of revenue will he get? This looks like a perfect fit for in-application advertising (although in-game advertising is getting big, I have never really heard of ads in applications yet). He should look into building an advertising section inside of the application that he can remotely push to and track - what a huge opportunity because my guess is this software will be popular.
