I want to show you something. It’s a check (or cheque if you come from where I live). It’s by no means the largest check in the world, but so far for me, it’s the largest one time affiliate commission check I’ve made.
Here it is:

This check is for $4,314.34 USD. I made this money by writing one blog post and one email. That’s it.
In fact, this check is only part of the money because some of the income was paid in split payments, so I still have more to come. In total, that one blog post and email generated over $6,000 in commissions.
I’s not a six figure check or even a five figure check, but remember this is from just one blog post and one email. It’s not my entire blog income for the month, nor is it money from Pay Per Click advertising selling CPA promotions or money made from membership sites or anything else.
Just one blog post and one email. Imagine if every blog post and email you wrote was worth that much!
Best of all, this money came from selling an affiliate product so I didn’t have to deliver anything after making the sales, just deposit the money and done.
How Can You Generate Checks Like This?
Let’s spare the hype, obviously you can’t expect to earn that kind of money from every blog post you write or email you send to your list. That’s obvious.
The reason I made this much money is because of one thing – my email list.
If you break that down further, my email list is a result of long term nurturing and only began in the first place because I blog. That’s all there is to it.
The money is in the list. It’s been said over and over again and yes, it is true, the money is in the list, yet so many bloggers don’t get this.
As a blogger, this is not something we inherently understand because we put faith in RSS feeds. Only the bloggers who are Internet marketers too use their blog to build their email list and understand that the list is the lifeblood of their business.
Sure, a few high profiled bloggers with solid RSS readerships can make their blog do what a good email list can do, but in my experience, it’s WAY easier to build a profitable list than it is a huge RSS readership. If you’re smart, you can use one to build the other.
Before you go about building an email list, you need to understand what goes into making one profitable. My list took a LONG time to make any money and it was entirely my fault. It paid off in the end and now I receive regular checks like in this post, but with a little training and smarter choices early on, I could have made money a lot sooner.
Marketing As Part Of The Crowd
You’ve probably seen the videos and emails flying around for the next launch, this time for Frank Kern’s Mass Control System.
Frank is one of my favorite Internet marketers because he’s so brutally normal – or at least very good at portraying himself as “one of us”. His email copy is brilliant – he’s definitely a person to model when it comes to copywriting for emails.
He sends out videos that are just him sitting in front of the camera recording power point slide presentations with typos and mistakes, yet that only serves to make his presentation more compelling – if this guy can make millions online, then anyone can!
Of course, that’s all part of his system and sure Frank is being honest and presenting himself as he truly is – totally human – but he is also very strategic about the process. That’s what his Mass Control System is all about, using different media to market with and present yourself as just like everyone else – a friend.
I for one love everything Frank talks about because I use a similar style. It’s relaxed and casual and just me talking or writing or recording camtasia videos. That’s the beautiful thing about today’s Internet marketing landscape – being yourself works in your favor and can make you big profits if you are strategic about it.
If you have ever felt nervous about promoting your products using your name, voice or face, then Frank’s style should convince you that anyone can do it. It’s worth studying how Frank does what he does just so you can replicate him in your own promotions.
Frank Kern’s Tips on Email List Building
Now back to my original point – how you can build a profitable email list.
Frank has gone and released a series of videos on how he builds email lists and what it takes to build a profitable one.
Here’s a link to the first free video:
Frank’s three key criteria for profitable lists are quite simple and you probably know this already:
- Focus on a markets where people buy stuff
- People have to actually want what you sell
- You have to provide value too
Frank goes on to explain that you can make good money from even small lists and he shows you how. He actually sold out of a $10,000 a head seminar with a list of only 7,236 subscribers netting over a million dollars. The reason he could make this happen is nothing special – he had a quality list. That’s the exact justification he gives in the video too. Quality wins out over quantity yet again.
If you watch the rest of the video and then opt-in to receive the other videos in the series you will get a fantastic idea of how you can build a profitable list. It’s worth watching just to see Frank ply his craft.
It’s free too by the way, so there’s no reason not to. Here’s that link again…

Lists is the money, its really great that infos is very useful.
Yaro, I’ve been a reader for some time now. I’m currently trying to build a quality list – this post is very helpful. Thanks!
Great blog. I am a relatively new Aussie blogger @ Finance Viewpoint.com and just discovered your blog from Aussie Top 100 blogs. Some very useful information here and I will be subscribing.
Andy
That’s great, One post? That is a lot of money for one post.
This is a good article. It’s quality, not quantity, that’s wahat’s always said, but now this really proves it! =) Thanks for sharing!
man that cheque is sure inspirational!
Very insightful article! Internet Marketing is on the rise and your tips awaken me to the consideration that a person can achieve their dreams, financial success, and not be an office slave!
Great info yet again Yaro!
I’m not sure if I missed it in your post, but what was it you posted/sold that gave you such good returns?
nice info Yaro, but “this money came from selling an affiliate product” how I find a potential / good selling product ?
oh ya, Yaro Do U got my email about interview ?
Thanks
Well Yaro today was the day I made my very first affiliate income. Just $65, but to me it was $65,000, because ever since I started on your BlogMastermind 6 months ago I knew this day would come, and it has. Yippeee!
Congrats John – my first affiliate sale was for $15, so you are ahead of the curve! If you keep doing what you are doing, a year from now I’d say you should have at least a four figure affiliate total.
Very inspiring, I thought that email marketing is just spam these days.
Hey Yaro,
very inspiring post, and also great to see that you’re a ‘follower’ of Frank Kern.
Zecca – email marketing isn’t about spam. It’s far from that. But some bad guys mess it up sometimes. That’s how email marketing got a bad name, ignorance and greed.

man I wish I could gernerate that kind of money but one day i sm going to get better but I am also having a contest come eveyone from yaro blog and I am going to do this every week
Wow, one email blast and 4k later. Actually 6k in the long run. It is very inspiring to see. I am sure some of us will make it that great one day
That is an amazing result from just one post. Are you going to share the email you sent out on your blog – or is it top secret? Thanks for the link.
Wow. Are u serious?? For only one post u can make that amount of money. That’s Awesome.
Thanks for sharing Yaro.
Wow if I could generate $4314.34 in affiliate income maybe my partner would stop hassling me when I sit at the computer!
Congrats, Yaro. Inspiring post.
One question: For new bloggers, if we are to choose building a base of RSS readers, or to build a mailing list, which one would you advice us to go for? By default I promote RSS, but I realised that the content I send out is not focused due to the nature of how most people blog.
But at the same time, if you are to have a list, you need the extra effort to write the email newsletter. I am on your mailing list, and it amazes me you can write on your blog AND on your email list so quickly.
So, if you have to choose one over the other for a starter blog… what would it be?
So true about lists, but it’s a dangerous line when doing this and losing subscribers. In a way you are selling out their information to others, no?
@Razlan – If possible I would do both. Your email list should be a bit more focused – or at least the offer you present to get people to subscribe is.
However if you are struggling just to build a popular blog, forget the newsletter for a while and just become a great blogger, which should naturally increase your RSS readership.
Another option is to set up a PDF report or an e-course of 5 emails to get people on to the list and then just broadcast to it when you can. That way you don’t have to create too much content beyond the resource you offer to first capture the email.
Remember my emails on my traffic tips list were created over 18 months – over 50 of them – and they keep going out from the start to the finish so I’m not producing fresh content for the list all the time, I can function off my previous efforts.
@voipblogger – You are in a way, but selling out is too harsh a phrase. After every mail out you lose some subscribers. It happens no matter what, whether you promote someone else’s products or just write a really helpful email.
One thing to think about though is when you promote and help someone make sales, they feel indebted to do the same for you – the law of reciprocity kicks in. This is how you can build your own list, give before asking to receive.
Yaro
Very true said, but the list is very dificult to grow when you don’t have many trafic. But it’s a good way to increase your income. Good info…
That is very inspiring! I am going to apply these methods to my own Internet business. I hope to be making at least $4,000 a month by 1 year from right now.
Yaro, well done on the 4K for one post! It’d be nice to see that type of affiliate $$$$ come my way, I guess all in due time, as these “lists” are not built in one day.
Yaro,
Thank you for sharing this information!! I am new to this and I look forward to watching Frank’s videos. I wish you every success as I take the steps towards mine.
Julia
Wow! I wanna get me one of those! I just found your blog today, and I can see I’m going to have to take a good long look around.
Yaro, thanks for the advice. I always of the belief that I should have a strong website before offering newsletter subscriptions. Will do that once my blog is more stable, with more visitors!
Great job Yaro! A great example of email marking put to work!
Hey Yaro… What program do you use to create your list? is it hard to manage it?
How does work affiliate program?
Great post … Thanks for the tips!!

Very motivating post. It feels a lot more attainable then the people who are claiming to be pulling 6 figures in. While I don’t disbelieve those sort of profits, your check is much more believable and a better goal.
Hi Yaro!
I read your article, but I still don’t understand how to build an email list: how can I collect email addresses? I have only 20-30 RSS subscribers, so my email list could have only 20-30 items. In addition to this, I must say that many RSS subscribers didn’t ask to receive emails from me, so I can’t send spam to them.
Could you explain your strategy about this topic, please? Thanks in advance.
Great blog, thats what I like to see. It shows that you can make money on line if your willing to put the time into it and focus.
Greta blog, it just shows that success doesn’t happen overnight, it takes a lot of work and you have to focus on one thing.
This is a great post. Email marketing is one of the fastest ways to earn money. If you have a list, you will send out a promotion to your subscribers first before telling it to the entire internet world. Just make sure to take care of your subscribers, and they will take care of your business.
This is a great blog expecially for me cause my boss told me to just “create” a newsletter now every week and I really had no idea about this theme till I read this. Now I get more feedback more sells and more money in my pocket. Thank you a lot.
This is a great article & I just love the humain-ness (:oP of Frank Kern.
It is his attitude & likeness that has made him the ‘star’ he is today.
Being truthfull & REAL sells!!
@rich: thats true…focusing is the most important thing!
Great a lists is money without list theres no money… thanks for this infos….
great article, thanx!
How do you know whether the people in your list will be interested in the product you are about to launch?
Thanks for a great article.
Thanks for a great article.
How do you verify many email addresses at the same time? I get a lot of email addresses from my web form that I cannot send email to, it just bounces back.
Yaro,
Thanks tons for the info. What awesome material. Frank really is a genius and I appreciate the solid material I can use to help me build a bigger and more responsive list. It’s great to have credible resources like your blog. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter what type of business someone has, the real money making asset that really creates financial security is in the list. Google can slap it…lol..but I’m sure they would if they could.
Thanks again,
Dennis
