Yesterday I was sitting at my computer facing a few too many emails and a rather large list of things to do and I could already feel my head start to hurt.

So what did I do? – I went to the park!

I decided if I was going to continue working I would probably be in considerable head pain by the end of the day, so I dropped everything and went to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt-Cootha and hung out with the birds.

iRiverI had my iRiver MP3 player with me and was listening to some podcasts, which created a desire to make one of my own impromptu rambling podcasts. My little iRiver has a built-in microphone, so I was itching to see how good it was – and wow, I’m impressed. The audio quality is not bad I’m sure you will agree, though I hope you like the sound of birds in the background :-) .

The podcast is a short one about a whole range of Internet business topics starting with social marketing, moving on to email lists and then finishing with a little note on keeping perspective.

Show Notes

  1. Yaro talks about the recent Rich Schefren Attention Doctrine and StomperSMARTS launches
  2. A look at how the Internet marketing focus is shifting to social marketing

The birds were a fabulous addition! Talk about a great soundtrack to promote the Internet business lifestyle, especially to us Northern Hemisphere folk who haven’t heard from our birds in a while. I loved it!

I appreciate hearing your perspective on bloggers and social marketing. Sometimes it’s easy to compare ourselves and our businesses with other Internet-savvy folk who always seem a step or leaps ahead technologically. It’s always good to be reassured that bloggers are headed in the right direction.

wow, nice sounds.. like a bird symphony .. btw I like the third section about “How Yaro is using email lists with his blog to make money” oh ya,

    @Yaro
Did U get my email ?

  4. 4

I have the same iRiver but never thought to use it that way. Very interesting, thanks.

@Yaro – is your podcast on iTunes? I’ve searched and can’t find it.

The reason why I love Internet business and why I am so eager to build my own business is that I can do this anywhere. Just like you went to park, I can write articles and record videos in a ski resort, in a beach house, anywhere. This is great!

I love this style of podcasting – spur of the moment – wherever you are – let your thoughts come out.

Totally agree with your advice on getting away from the PC. My limit is about 40 miutes then I take a short break – sometimes hitting my local park!

Happens to me all the time…. whenever I feel pressure, guess what helps, escaping for a moment or as I like to call it, “venue change”.

Helps you relax and refresh your mind, so that it starts functioning healthy next time you need it ;)

I have a little cheapie MP3 that does surprisingly good quality audio. My favourite way to record is while I am taking a walk on the trails in our bush.

Sometimes there is background noise and the quality is better inside, but I don’t think as well sitting at my desk and it’s a little different, and encourages me to go for a walk.

The hard part is editing and getting them online!

I like the idea to record a podcast from a park with the birds chirping in the background – very peaceful. Do you live in Brisbane?

Hi Yaro, fabulous stuff! I love the realness of it and hope it encourages more internet marketers to step outside and get some fresh air! As a fellow Aussie I can relate the birds as we get the cockatoos here every morning and at 5.30am every day we are woken by the Rainbow Lorikeets (not so much fun!). I’m inspired now to do some of my own podcasts with background bird sounds!.

  12. 12

Your birds are much more fun to listen to than the ducks in my back yard – their squacks and quacks get old after a while. The cat doesn’t seem to mind though.

  13. 13

    Hi Yaro,

What a breath of fresh air you are. Just like you took going down to the park!

You are at the leading edge of change in this world which will eventually blossom into heaven on earth instead of the insane madness that characterises most of private life, business and politics currently.

I applaud you and on the strength of this podcast alone I will recommend you to as many people who have ears to hear the importance of what you teach in this message.

Best wishes for your continued inner happiness and (as a result) your success and abundance,

    David (in Shropshire, England)
