How Can Blogging Help Writers Make More Money?

I’m doing a lot of interviews lately, but this was definitely one of the best. Ray Edwards has embraced blogging wholeheartedly and is making serious changes to his business model to focus on his blog as the linchpin of his operation.

Ray’s core skill is copywriting and he has a lot of students who learn from him how to use words to their advantage. We’re talking authors, freelancer writers, copywriters, speakers and general small business folk who use words to sell (pretty much all of us who have an online business!).

I jumped at the chance to present to Ray’s audience through an interview and offer my thoughts on how blogs could be used to help authors, speakers and writers who want to translate their words into an income stream through blogging.

You can download the podcast here – Blogging For Six Figures? Writers Take Note!

It’s worth listening to this podcast to hear Ray speak too. As a copywriter he knows how to speak good copy as well, so listen how Ray leads this interview and you can learn a lot about good podcast technique.

    Hey Yaro,

Great interview, I know when I hire writers I like to see they have some kind of a blog or personal website as I know thats the writing style they feel comfortable with. When I see a blogger has great writing style on their blog and they convey personality and emotion it makes me want to hire them.

Yes, a writer who just writes for money (i.e. sells articles) does not have the same skills as someone who writes for a blog 5 times a week.

Plus, you get to see how great of a writer they actually are, not just the one or two samples they send.

I really enjoyed this. It is always nice to hear from other people in the blog world.

Thanks for the interview, Yaro. I’ll be listening to this in the car soon. I’ve been meaning to see what Ray Edwards is about, so this will be a good start :-)

Great interview. Thank you very much. It’s good to get a coaching like this for free on the web. ;-) BTW: Isn’t the blogosphere the only place where people who are making a lot of money tell many of their success secrets for free and help the newbies? I don’t know of any similar place to start learning and improving.

And Yaro, since you’re coming to Europe, is there any chance you’ll visit Germany??

Germany is a maybe on the list Haris.

There’s too many things in Europe to see and I only have a few months plus I’m trying to avoid the super cold, so it will be a progressively southern journey as it gets closer to Christmas.

Blogging is definitely a path to monetization. While I still don’t consider mysef a writer, my blog has nonetheless led to a syndicated column, which led to a book, and the litany of opportunistic tentacles have literally become countless. I would strongly encourage those looking to blog to stay the course, as it will pay dividends with a dedicated effort.

    Hi Yaro,

that was a really good podcast, gave me a lot of new ideas to improve my starting business.

If you plan to come to visit Munich while your stay in Germany let me know, I was told to be a good tourguide and I can probably give you some insides that you won’t find in the tourbooks. Or if you simply need some travel advises let me know.

Thanks for all your great information.

    Greetings from Munich

    Ben

Great podcast, lots of good information. I think blogging can really take off and provide a full-time income. However, it does take a lot of hard work before it starts to pay off. So be patient.

Great post! I have learned a lot about blogging and it opens my eye to those writers, who blog only for money.

Ray is a great guy and excellent copywriter. I always enjoy hearing what Ray has to share. Love to get those free nuggets of wisdom he puts out there for us.

Thanks to both of you for making this available.

I look forward to meeting you along the way some day Yaro.

This is a great interview as I am starting my book and free PDF give away too. This and your program have helped me to start my blogging and traffic flurry. All of the content in your podcasts are so uplifting and motivational I really appreciate it Yaro. BTW I’ve been in your Blog Mastermind program now for only 3 months and I am already making sales from my affiliate products. thanks, it’s really hlped in this crappy economy. If it weren’t for the sales of those I would be flat broke.

Yaro, how much percentage of success can you attribute to Podcasting? Is it, “ounce for ounce”, so to speak, worth it’s weight in gold…or is it just ok and not a panacea?

I am considering starting down that path but should I skip it altogether and go video? What are the pros and cons of blogging vs podcasting vs video blogging and which ones have the best chances in a niche? What are the prospects, in the realm of podcasts, to market yourself – small, medium, large?
