How To Make More Money At The Point Of Conversion

Opportunity to increase conversionThere’s a well circulated understanding in the business world that the best source of increased revenue is your current customers. It’s harder to acquire a new customer compared to selling more to existing customers. The psychology behind this explains that your existing customers do not face the same level of resistance because they have already taken out their wallets and bought from you and experienced what you offer. Those who were satisfied will be eager to buy again.

While not quite as powerful as selling to a converted customer, the next best thing is selling to a person currently in the point of conversion.

Action Taken

The point of conversion is any time where a person has taken an action and interacted with your website. While it’s preferable that the conversion action is a purchase, it can also refer to an opt-in for something free. The point of conversion is also a point of escalation, transforming a visitor into a prospect or a prospect into a customer.

A similar psychology is at play at the point of conversion as to selling to existing customers, because the person has taken an action and therefore more likely to take a second action and even a third action.

Let’s look at some classic examples of how to take advantage of the point of conversion to generate more dollars.

How To Use Paypal Shops To Find Hot Selling Products

This is a cool tip and I have to give credit where it’s due before I dish it out to you. I first came across the idea while listening to an interview with Terry Dean, a very well known Internet marketer who has been doing the online money making thing for years. He’s also one of the only pure Internet marketers I’ve seen really embrace blogging as a tool to build an email list. You will see his blog has a pop-up opt-in form to join his list, which will definitely annoy some people but I suspect is converting well for Terry.

Paypal Shops Logo

Now let’s look at this very underused method for finding topics and hot products using Paypal Shops to determine what people are spending money on. This is so easy it blows my mind it hasn’t been talked about before and that could be because people don’t know about it. I’m probably eroding someone’s secret advantage by publishing this one!

How To Convince A-Listers To Promote Your Product

One of the biggest advantages of building an authority blog in your niche is you start to get the attention of the big players in your industry.

This is a HUGE advantage - In fact it can be the difference between operating your business in obscurity and struggling to convince anyone to promote your product, to becoming a big player yourself when you have A-list joint venture partners promoting your work.

If you don’t have an authority blog there really is only one other surefire way to get on the radar of the guys and girls with the big email lists and the big blogs - get in their face at an event.

You see this photo?

Rich, Yaro and Mike

That was taken at Rich Schefren’s Strategic Profits event last year in February. It features Rich on the left, me in the middle and Mike Filsaime on the right.

If you don’t know these two guys, it doesn’t matter, but what does matter is the size of their email lists and influence. Rich just won the StomperSMARTS affiliate competition, so he sold more of that course as an affiliate than any other and it’s safe to say his email list is way over 150,000 people now - probably over 250,000.

Mike is known for his viral marketing power and his goal to build the largest email list. I have no idea how large his list is now, but I suspect it’s over 500,000 subscribers, which is insane, and he’s constantly in the top 10 of affiliates for the Internet marketing niche.

The reason I mention these two guys is that thanks to attending an event I put my face in their sphere of attention. Since then we have met again and spoken over email and on calls. To put it simply, these two guys are now willing to promote a product of mine assuming it is quality. Just having Mike and Rich on board as affiliates is enough to launch a business and these are two of the most valuable relationships I have.

It all started after attending an event.

Rich’s Next Event In Disney World in February

If you currently operate in the Internet marketing, business or social media industries then pay attention to this. Rich and his Strategic Profits business are putting on their next event coming up in February. It’s called “New Beginnings” and it’s in Disney World!

If you want a chance to meet some of the best of the best and begin relationships with people who could become A-List partners for your next launch, this is an event worth attending. You can check out the full details at -

http://www.strategicprofits.com/live1/

There are various levels of price, but you can get a ticket for under $1,600 if you just want to attend the main event for 2 1/2 days, February 24-26 2008.

Here’s the spiel I just received via email…

Do You Really Need A Unique Niche?

Unique Niche MarketI was thinking the other day about the niche of Internet marketing. It’s one of the most crowded niches on the Internet, yet so many people generate an income selling products related to making money on the world wide web. The reason is obvious - there’s a hungry crowd out there eager to make money and more and more budding web entrepreneurs are born each day.

You can segment the market into many sub-niches. There’s the AdSense expert, the pay per click expert, the affiliate marketing expert, people who buy and sell websites, email list builders, and of course the professional bloggers who use blogs to earn a living - and that’s just small handful of the areas people are making money in.

The laws of marketing dictate that these crowded industries will further segment into smaller sub-niches with the hope that you can carve out your own little piece of the pie by breaking things down to distinguish yourself from the rest. For example there’s no specific expert I know of who focuses on being the expert at affiliate marketing just with blogs or the professional website trader who only focuses on buying and selling a specific type of site, like forums.

For beginners, the issue of choosing what to sell, or in the case of blogging - what to write about - is the hardest choice. I know the thoughts that go through your head -

  • I’m not good enough at anything to be an expert
  • That guy or girl already dominates that market
  • I’m not entering the make money online niche - it’s too crowded

The problem is about positioning and until you get comfortable with what you want to be to other people, it can be a very confusing time in the life of a young start-up business or a new blogger.

What Really Is Unique?
