How To Profit Helping People Become Famous – Interview With Laura Roeder
Make sure you look out for Laura’s cat – she features in this interview too.
This interview is a great story, which for many online entrepreneurs will seem very familiar – as it was for me.
Laura is young, but she’s not young in terms of how long she’s been running an online business. Like many people who got started online, her first “business” was freelance web design, however today she’s doing something a little more unique.
Laura has various products, but one area she specializes in is helping other people become famous in their niche using social media.
During this interview you will hear a great example of a podiatrist (foot doctor) who followed Laura’s advice and basically become that famous online foot doctor guy, leading to all kinds of cool things happening to him.
I recommend you listen to this story if you’re thinking of leaving your job so you can get a feel of how a person can progress from one business model to the next, all the while making money. You may not have your ideal business in mind yet, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start one. Like Laura, who just decided she couldn’t do the full time work thing, sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and make a change.
How Exactly Does Laura Make People Famous?
During the second half of this interview Laura explains how exactly she became good at making people famous, including how she uses tools like Twitter to accomplish this. She believes in the power of personality, which is something she runs her business by, with most of her clients choosing to work with her because they like her. That might seem obvious, but there’s a powerful marketing lesson in there too, which Laura subtly explains.
On an interesting side note – one of Laura’s best friends was a star for a full season of the show “Heroes” and Laura ended up helping her develop an online presence. You can hear that story along with lots of other interesting insights, inside this great interview. Just click play above to begin listening.

Will Hamilton Reveals How He Makes Six Figures Online Teaching Tennis
(There’s a tiny bit of lag on this video, but it shouldn’t stop you from hearing the content.)
This was the most highly anticipated podcast interview I have ever done (for me anyway) because it combines two of my all time favorite subjects -
- Making money from the Internet, and
- Tennis!
That’s right, my guest Will Hamilton is a professional college tennis player, who leveraged his knowledge and skill with the game to create a six-figures a year information publishing business, based around a model that uses a blog, videos and a premium membership site area (that model should sound familiar to you).
You can check out his site at FuzzyYellowBalls.com – that’s a tennis ball reference in case you couldn’t guess.
How Will Built His Business
Will started by creating instructional videos on how to play tennis, which he circulated via YouTube (his channel is YouTube.com/fuzzyyellowballs).
His angle was to create videos of a better standard than anyone else out there and capitalize on the YouTube traffic, bring those readers back to his website and then get them on to his email list.
A few short years later and it’s worked really well. He has several hundred videos, resulting in a million video views a month and an email list of 60,000 subscribers – one of the largest email lists in the tennis industry, and it all started as a simple two-man operation (Will and his tech partner Adam).
Once Will established traffic, he realized that his original plan of monetization via advertising wasn’t cutting the mustard, so he decided to follow the premium membership strategy, launching a $25/month a membership site, which currently boasts over 600 paying members. Do the math and that’s over $15,000 a month).
Will’s story is definitely worth a listen because it’s yet another great example of someone starting with a skill, and through consistent work, launches an online business that results in getting paid really well to talk about something you love.
It’s also a great example of the little guy rising up to challenge the large media companies. Will receives press status just like mainstream media journalists when he attends tennis events. It’s quite impressive how far a blog can take you (and yes I’m a little jealous – I’d like to hang with tennis pros too).

How John Jonas Outsources To Full Time Staff For As Little As $200 Month

John Jonas and I spent several months trying to connect to get this interview done, but it was worth the wait.
I was referred to him via Adam Short from Niche Profit Classroom as a guy who has a unique insight into a particular type of outsourcing online – in this case, hiring people specifically from the Philippines.
Why the Philippines? Well there are many reasons, most of which John outlines in this interview, and by the end of it I’m sure you will be rushing to look into this method yourself.
This is a really, really good podcast interview. It’s one of those discussions where the person being interviewed is willing to share the exact steps used to get something done. If you have ever considered doing any outsourcing online to help grow your business, listen to this call.
Outsourcing Is Not Always Easy
I’ve been telling people to “outsource” for many years, and unfortunately a lot of people come back to me with stories about how difficult it is to find quality contractors.
Common wisdom with outsourcing is that you go to a site like elance.com, guru.com or rentacoder.com, submit a job and then attempt to find the best person to get the project done. This can work, but it’s hit and miss and in most cases you have to go through some “bad” experiences before you get to the good people.
John Jonas has a different system, one that focuses on hiring people full time at very affordable rates, and then establishing a long term relationship that’s more like an outsourced employee than a odd job contractor, who only works with you when you have a project on.
When I say a relationship with his outsourcers, John well and truly trusts his people. He’s willing to give them access to his hosting accounts and even his Paypal account. There’s a lot of trust required to be that comfortable letting other people, especially people in another country far away, have control over pretty much everything in your business.
If you’re curious how John can do this, listen to the interview and you will find out how.
Show Notes
- How John started off and was able to quit his job thanks to online marketing
- How he first found out about outsourcing to the Philippines
- Why John stopped using elance type sites and instead started hiring full time
- John explains an entire case study of how he had his outsourcers set up an entire income stream that they manage without him
- Why John is able to trust his outsourcers with every aspect of his business
- What website options are available for outsourcing to the Philippines
- John takes us through an example of how to locate a Philippino worker using the website he uses to find good people
- We discuss the ethical concerns of hiring a full time worker for as little as $200 a month
- What John teaches in his ReplaceMyself.com website
Want To Outsource To The Philippines?
If you’re interested in doing what John does, and getting access to more training materials and his system you can use to train your outsourcers once you hire them, check out John’s site, ReplaceMyself.com.
John spends much of his time helping to outsource the way he does because he enjoys it, and since so much of his business is outsourced already, he has the time to do so. If you want his help, check out -

Andrew Warner Reveals How He Created A $30 Million Dollar Internet Business
Andrew Warner is passionate about entrepreneurship and loves talking with his fellow entrepreneurs. He came to my attention when he recently interviewed Gideon Shalwick on his current blog, Mixergy, which features tons of great video interviews with leading entrepreneurs.
Andrew has a great story to tell as he, in partnership with his brother, created an eight figure online business (topping $30 million in annual sales at one point), which he later sold. I was naturally curious to learn more about him, what his business was about and what he is currently focused on, so I approached him about doing an interview.
In this interview Andrew explains how he first became an entrepreneur and then dives into a detailed breakdown of how he started and grew his multi-million dollar business and what his current Mixergy project is aiming to achieve.
The concept of leverage is especially important for any company to grow towards eight figures, so I was interested to hear Andrew’s take on how to get real leverage in your business. If you want to push towards a million dollars or more a year from your online business, have a listen to what Andrew had to say.
