***Update***
This issue has since been resolved. You can read Will’s explanation here.

My friend Will Swayne called me up yesterday on Skype to have a rant about 1ShoppingCart/MarketersChoice.com.
He just launched a significant project, which was largely being fuelled by affiliates.
The problem was that affiliate referrals were not accurately tracked by the software and worse still, the team at 1Shoppingcart didn’t have an estimated time it would be fixed and didn’t act like it was a priority. Obviously that’s a disastrous situation for an Internet marketer who has a time sensitive campaign. You are going to have a lot of angry affiliates if you don’t accurately track the customers they send to you and credit them with sales. This one error will literally shut down a launch mid-stride, so Will has acted fast and is installing an alternative affiliate system.
Will wrote an explanation of the situation on his blog.
I for one am VERY surprised at the reaction of 1Shoppingcart based on Will’s story. As a person who in the past recommended their services I am blown away by how Will has been treated in this instance and I suspect he’s not the only customer who is leaving their service. I hope through blog posts like this one and Will’s that the team at 1ShoppingCart improve their game and post a public explanation for what has been going on.
This makes me wonder whether even my own affiliate referrals to 1shoppingcart are being tracked correctly and considering I do promote their service in various place on this blog I might have to make some changes very soon.

Mark Joyner’s Simpleology is something I have investigated recently. I have to admit that I have known about it for a long time, but it wasn’t until I actually spoke to Mark at the World Internet Summit that I took an active interest.
I’ve only just started diving into Simpleology, but one thing I’m really happy to see - it’s not an Internet marketing product - and Mark has taken a step away from his previous pure Internet marketing career into a project with much farther reaching implications. Everyone is the target market for Simpleology.
Simpleology is about enhancing your life through simple brain hacks and activities - at least that’s my understanding so far. There’s a lot more to learn and I’ve got a copy of the print book coming to me soon too, which should help give me a clearer picture of what it’s all about.
For example the first two things I just learnt by going through the Simpleology sign-up process where the benefits of chewing food at least 30 times to release more energy into the body and some really interesting commentary on how much water we should drink. I pretty much only drink water (no alcohol - just juice, soy milk and normal milk, outside of water) so it was very interesting to read the Simpleology take on what our body requires.
If improving your life, and as the tagline goes - the simple science of getting what you want - interests you, then check out Simpleology.
Print Book Launch
At 12 Noon EST 30 March 2007 the Simpleology print book is released and Mark has orchestrated quite a massive launch, including many high profile partners who will be releasing free bonuses to go along with the book. I’m trying to scramble together my own bonuses to release along with the launch, but I’m not sure I will have enough time to get something ready.
If you are reading this page after the launch time you can go right now to this page to get your copy of the book:
http://keepit.simpleology.com/book/
If you get there early you will see a short teaser preview movie.

Lessons From Daryl and Andrew - Day 3
Imagine waking up each day, indulging in your absolute favorite hobby, helping others learn about what you do, talking about your passions with like minded individuals and doing it all for as long as you want to AND getting paid $40,000 a month to do it.
Sounds pretty darn good!
We may all chase the passive income dream, where we do nothing all day and the money keeps rolling in - and sure, no one is going to say no to that - but let’s remember that we won’t “do nothing” even if we become filthy rich. We all have ideas, things we would like to do, people we would like to help and as humans we have a desire to express ourselves creatively. Running a subscription site that lets you enjoy a hobby or passion and earn plenty from it, is a pretty good lifestyle.
How to create subscription sites was the topic of day three at the Andrew and Daryl Grant workshop. Continuing from day two on how to build an ebook business, the subscription site model is a logical progression. If you hit a hot topic with your ebook, why not go deep, create a sales funnel and offer more products to the same market under a subscription model.
Here’s some of the benefits of owning a subscription site:
- You get paid on a recurring basis
- You build a community that helps to increase referrals organically
- You foster loyalty and become an expert in your area - good for keeping the competition at bay
- You get paid on a recurring basis
It’s pretty clear what the main benefit of the subscription model is. With an ongoing cashflow source you can rely on a certain amount of money coming in each month. With that income source you can put resources into improving the service you deliver to your members, creating a nice reinforcing cycle improving the quality of what you deliver and making more money as a result.

In one of my blog traffic tip newsletters I talk about the importance of having a prominent RSS feed icon in the above the fold position on your blog, just like I do in the right sidebar (it’s that big orange thing to the right –> ).
If you need a feed icon for your blog you can get one from this cool site I just discovered:
Enjoy!

Lessons From Daryl and Andrew - Day 2
Day two of the Andrew and Daryl show was all about how they created a business selling ebooks online. Daryl Grant spoke for most of the day and the focus was on the practical steps to start your own ebook business.
If you listened to the two part podcast audio interview I did with Daryl you should already have a basic understanding of their business model since Daryl was very generous with the details. If you haven’t, I recommend you do so immediately. This article acts as a great companion piece to go along with the audio.
On Saturday Daryl and Andrew broke their system down in more detail and I’m going to summarize some of what was presented for you below.
Steps to an eBook Business
Here’s a break down of the process to create an ebook business. This is the model Daryl and Andrew used to generate over $250,000 in passive income during their first year in the ebook business.
