BecomeABlogger.com Launches – Free Video Tutorials To Help You Start Your Very Own Blog
In the second half of 2007 I was contacted about whether I was interested in buying the domain name, becomeablogger.com.
Initially I said no because I was wearing my “too busy” hat at the time. A few days later I changed my mind and decided to grab the domain for an idea I had previously considered.
Helping Beginner Bloggers
As those who have studied Blog Mastermind know, I don’t provide absolute beginner training in the program on the simple technical tasks, like buying a domain name, setting up hosting and installing WordPress.
Instead I recommend my students immediately begin outsourcing the technical aspect of blogging if that is not your strong point. In the long run it’s definitely a smarter tactic, something I wish I did myself from day one, but instead I decided to struggle with technology myself and thus slow my progress down considerably.
In 2007 I started to attract more press coverage. To leverage the publicity I directed the attention towards my Blog Profits Blueprint download form, which I realized was not the smartest thing to do. The Blueprint is a great report, but it’s really suited towards more experienced bloggers and is not a good entry level book.
People who discover me via mainstream press are usually brand new to anything about making money online, thus they really need a very basic introduction to the world of blogging.
I wanted to make a site where I could offer basic training to get a blog set up using video tutorials, so I could direct people to the site as a first contact point with my training and blogging in general. I wanted a “doorway” site into the world of blogging and also to begin a relationship with my business. Something I could easily say on radio or podcast interviews or in emails from newbies.
When the domain Becomeablogger.com was offered to me I thought it was perfect for my objective. Initially the project was put on the back burner while I was busy with Blog Mastermind creating the lessons, but I kept my eyes open and put some feelers out for someone good at video to produce the tutorials.
I met Gideon Shalwick at a conference in Brisbane and began watching his work interviewing Internet marketing experts at his site Internet Marketing Wizards. I was impressed with his video production and asked if he was interested in the Become A Blogger project and he said yes.
Three months later, and we have just finished the final touches on the site.

Free Reports Worth Reading
I just had a great weekend. It was the Australia day public holiday here on Monday so I hosted a traditional Aussie BBQ housewarming party at my place. It was nice to have friends over, eat some good food, play some cards and then head to the park for some running around.
Now of course, it’s back to work!
With the profile of this blog I’m constantly sent reports and e-books to look at and unfortunately nowadays I have little time to read them, but I try to squeeze some in when I can. Today I picked out a few of the best to recommend to you and they are all free!
5x Profits Secrets by Dr Mani
Dr Mani is blogging like crazy on his Money Power Wisdom blog. He knows his stuff, so it’s worth adding his feed to your readers if you are interested in blogging and Internet marketing, the Doc has been in the game for a long time.
Dr Mani is a real doctor and much of his Internet business profits are used to fund heart surgery for under-privileged children in India. That’s a pretty noble cause and one worth supporting.
His new report – 5x Profits Secrets – reveals some of the fundamentals of successful marketing, including:
How To Convince A-Listers To Promote Your Product
One of the biggest advantages of building an authority blog in your niche is you start to get the attention of the big players in your industry.
This is a HUGE advantage – In fact it can be the difference between operating your business in obscurity and struggling to convince anyone to promote your product, to becoming a big player yourself when you have A-list joint venture partners promoting your work.
If you don’t have an authority blog there really is only one other surefire way to get on the radar of the guys and girls with the big email lists and the big blogs – get in their face at an event.
You see this photo?

That was taken at Rich Schefren’s Strategic Profits event last year in February. It features Rich on the left, me in the middle and Mike Filsaime on the right.
If you don’t know these two guys, it doesn’t matter, but what does matter is the size of their email lists and influence. Rich just won the StomperSMARTS affiliate competition, so he sold more of that course as an affiliate than any other and it’s safe to say his email list is way over 150,000 people now – probably over 250,000.
Mike is known for his viral marketing power and his goal to build the largest email list. I have no idea how large his list is now, but I suspect it’s over 500,000 subscribers, which is insane, and he’s constantly in the top 10 of affiliates for the Internet marketing niche.
The reason I mention these two guys is that thanks to attending an event I put my face in their sphere of attention. Since then we have met again and spoken over email and on calls. To put it simply, these two guys are now willing to promote a product of mine assuming it is quality. Just having Mike and Rich on board as affiliates is enough to launch a business and these are two of the most valuable relationships I have.
It all started after attending an event.
Rich’s Next Event In Disney World in February
If you currently operate in the Internet marketing, business or social media industries then pay attention to this. Rich and his Strategic Profits business are putting on their next event coming up in February. It’s called “New Beginnings” and it’s in Disney World!
If you want a chance to meet some of the best of the best and begin relationships with people who could become A-List partners for your next launch, this is an event worth attending. You can check out the full details at -
http://www.strategicprofits.com/live1/
There are various levels of price, but you can get a ticket for under $1,600 if you just want to attend the main event for 2 1/2 days, February 24-26 2008.
Here’s the spiel I just received via email…
Understanding Affiliate Marketing From The Perspective Of A Blogger
I’ve been affiliate marketer for almost as long as I have been a blogger and it’s amazing how much you learn as you go along.
I was very frustrated by nearly all of the affiliate promotions run on my blog during the first two years or so. Each time I published a blog post that focused on an affiliate offer I had such a poor response, on several occasions I thought about giving up blogging altogether. Yet, over time, things would prove worthwhile, as sales began to trickle in.
I expected a rush of sales after posting a blog post affiliate promotion, like all the Internet marketers talk about, and was disappointed when it didn’t happen to me. Instead my sales “dripped” in, one every now and then over the days and weeks that followed, which was certainly not as exciting as $1,000+ in 24 hours just from writing one email, as others claim happened to them.
Those early days taught me that patience is a virtue when it comes to building an affiliate marketing business based on a blog. I’ve learned a lot about what goes into effective affiliate marketing since then, yet in many ways, I still walk into most promotions completely blind and with little expectation. You never know how well something will sell and I’m constantly surprised by my results.

Will Feedburner Feed Counts Include AWeber Email Subscribers?
Andy Beard reported on his blog that AWeber will begin to report email subscriber numbers to Feedburner.
This triggered a line of thought in me that I hadn’t considered before. Let me tell you why…
I’ve been an AWeber user for ages now and it’s been my RSS-to-email service of choice for forever too. I never used any other RSS-to-email service and it’s been clear to me for a long time that a real email list service is the way to handle anything that has to do with email marketing – it’s a “well duh” situation in my mind.
Why people would use a service that doesn’t focus on deliverability to deliver their RSS-to-email function is beyond me, so yes, I recommend AWeber to you too. You can read my full AWeber review for more about why it is a must-have tool.
