How to Find and Secure Freelance Writing Clients

by Chris Bibey

It is easy to show people how to make money through freelance writing. After all, once you have clients, the writing part usually comes a bit easier. In fact, many freelance writers will openly admit that they have a more difficult time marketing their services than the actual writing process. If you are going to be successful, you need to learn how to find freelance writing clients. From there, your writing ability will take over, and you can do your thing.

Every freelance writer finds clients in their own way. I have my own strategy for doing so, and it is safe to say that it is much different than that of many others. With that being said, there are basic steps and details that will allow you to get a good start. Let’s take a look at a few now.

Yesterday I was sitting at my computer facing a few too many emails and a rather large list of things to do and I could already feel my head start to hurt.

So what did I do? - I went to the park!

I decided if I was going to continue working I would probably be in considerable head pain by the end of the day, so I dropped everything and went to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt-Cootha and hung out with the birds.

iRiverI had my iRiver MP3 player with me and was listening to some podcasts, which created a desire to make one of my own impromptu rambling podcasts. My little iRiver has a built-in microphone, so I was itching to see how good it was - and wow, I’m impressed. The audio quality is not bad I’m sure you will agree, though I hope you like the sound of birds in the background :-).

The podcast is a short one about a whole range of Internet business topics starting with social marketing, moving on to email lists and then finishing with a little note on keeping perspective.

Show Notes

  1. Yaro talks about the recent Rich Schefren Attention Doctrine and StomperSMARTS launches
  2. A look at how the Internet marketing focus is shifting to social marketing
  3. How Yaro is using email lists with his blog to make money
  4. Why it is important to focus on intrinsic values and not just money

How To Build A Profitable Email List - Frank Kern Style

I want to show you something. It’s a check (or cheque if you come from where I live). It’s by no means the largest check in the world, but so far for me, it’s the largest one time affiliate commission check I’ve made.

Here it is:

$4,000 Affiliate Commission Check

This check is for $4,314.34 USD. I made this money by writing one blog post and one email. That’s it.

In fact, this check is only part of the money because some of the income was paid in split payments, so I still have more to come. In total, that one blog post and email generated over $6,000 in commissions.

I’s not a six figure check or even a five figure check, but remember this is from just one blog post and one email. It’s not my entire blog income for the month, nor is it money from Pay Per Click advertising selling CPA promotions or money made from membership sites or anything else.

Just one blog post and one email. Imagine if every blog post and email you wrote was worth that much!

Best of all, this money came from selling an affiliate product so I didn’t have to deliver anything after making the sales, just deposit the money and done.

How Can You Generate Checks Like This?

Website Portfolio For Sale - Currently Generates $3000+ Per Month

In 2008 I am streamlining and simplifying my business. Part of this process involves divesting myself from projects not directly related to my core business.

What that means is I have some websites for sale - and some pretty darn good ones!

I won’t reveal the specific details in this blog post but I do have a PDF report that explains everything that I am happy to provide to serious buyers only.

The portfolio includes five websites, all of which require minimal ongoing work to maintain. It takes about five hours a week to look after them if you do it yourself, but my helper Rob, who manages these sites for me, can do it for you for a small monthly fee as he has done for me, so these sites can be run without you - pure passive income - though you still need to invest some time now and then and think about the future too.

You could invest more time to grow the income, which is what I haven’t been able to do due to my blogging projects and why I am selling these sites.

The sites currently generate over $3,000 per month in total and have made as much as $4,000 in a single month, but have never dropped below $3,000 since I have owned them. Running costs are about $100 per month for servers and $100 per YEAR for domain renewal.

The traffic to the sites totals well over 100,000 uniques per month and over 500,000 page impressions according to Google Analytics. You can almost double those numbers if you look at the stats from AWstats or Webalizer.

Included in the package are three forums, one blog and one video site. I prefer to sell them all to the one buyer if possible, however if that does not eventuate I will sell them individually or in smaller groups.

At this stage I am taking offers from serious buyers only. Since these sites require little ongoing maintenance to operate, produce a stable revenue and demonstrate serious growth potential, I expect a minimum of 15-20 times monthly revenue as a sale price. If you can entertain a price in that range, please email me and I will provide the PDF report with more details about the sites.

Please email your interest to yaroATblogmastermindDOTcom

If these sites do not sell this way, I will take them to auction at Sitepoint, so express your interest now to avoid competition.

Yaro
