Can You Make Money Online Without Lying?

Marketers are LiarsI wanted to use the word “honesty” in the title for this blog post, but I expect the word “Lying” will pull more attention. However don’t let that mislead you, this article is about using honesty in your marketing, not lying.

At the start of September you may recall StomperNet offered their Stomping The Search Engines 2 course for the cost of shipping if you were willing to try their new print newsletter. They made money off this offer because of the multiple upsells involved during the ordering process and the potential for rebills if customers decided to stay subscribed to the print newsletter.

I had no problem with this offer, in fact I thought it was a good deal and promptly blogged about it and sent a notice to my newsletter too.

Besides a brief hiccup that killed the opening day, StomperNet did well, and many of you, my readers, grabbed the offer.

A few days later Brad and Andy at StomperNet decided to up the ante a little and with the help of many of their top Internet marketing friends, put together a bonus package that was, well, a little over the top.

Guys like Ed Dale, Jeff Johnson, Jeff Walker, Rich Schefren, Mike Filsaime, Paul Colligan and Shawn Casey (and others) gave everything from teleseminar downloads, audio files, free months in coaching programs, reports and more on top of what was already offered by StomperNet, just for the cost of shipping. That offer has since passed, though you can still buy the course and trial the first month of the newsletter if you pay for sending it to you.

Why Do They Do This?

Get Stomping The Search Engines 2 For Free (sort of…)

Apologies if you got this notice from my newsletter yesterday around 2PM. It appears Andy and Brad had some technology issues so people haven’t been able to take advantage of this one until today. The links in this post go to an active page where you can order.

You can skip the background story and go straight to the good stuff here –

Stomping the Search Engines 2

A long time ago I was a newbie just like you might be now.

A newbie is a person new to the Internet and in my case I was learning everything I could about building websites and then generating traffic to them.

About four years ago I stumbled across a man called Brad Fallon, who at the time was selling a product called Stomping the Search Engines.

Brad taught people how to convince search engines, specifically Google, to send thousands of visitors to your site simply by optimizing your web pages so they rank well in search result pages.

Brad was the first to teach me how important the following elements are in order to “search engine optimize” (SEO) my website –

  • Titles
  • Keyword Density
  • Site Structure
  • Internal Links
  • PageRank
  • Page Reputation
  • Anchor Text
  • Link Popularity
  • Link Relevance

I owe a lot to Brad because he introduced me to the world of SEO and since then I’ve come to depend on Google to deliver fresh visitors to my blog.

Thankfully blogging is a great way to organically drive traffic from search engines and even if you forget about SEO you can do reasonably well just by publishing regularly to a WordPress.org blog.

However, if you are in a competitive niche, or you just can’t seem to grab that first page ranking for a certain keyphrase you know is the killer-term that could skyrocket your traffic, it pays to study the work of guys like Brad.

Today Brad is a partner-founder with Andy Jenkins of the Stompernet company – a massive Internet marketing organization made up of many experts, which they call the “faculty” (just like a university).

Going Natural 2.0 Video – 3 Social Marketing Tips You Can Implement Today

Update: The links in this post now point to the sale page for the SMARTS program, since the program went live. If you haven’t seen the video yet, here’s the link: Going Natural 2.0 Video.

Also I called Don Crowther “Dan” in this article and have since fixed it – sorry Don!

StomperSMARTS

StomperNet have released a new video that provides a fantastic discussion of what Social Marketing is, why it’s so critical to the future of Internet marketing and ends with three (well four really) practical ways you can use social media sites to drive traffic to your site.

Here’s the link -

Social Marketing: Success without SEO, Pay-Per-Click or Affiliates

The video is long – 50 Minutes – and the tips start about half way through, but it’s worth watching from start to finish, especially if you have not looked into using social media and Web 2.0 sites as a means to market your blog or business.

Social Marketing Is Huge

I don’t know about you, but I can’t keep up with all the social media and Web 2.0 talk lately.

Not a day goes by where I don’t get some notification from Facebook and given the growth numbers the site is putting up, it won’t be long until Facebook rivals MySpace, the current traffic leader.

Then there’s YouTube, the video sharing site that apparently every single American who uses the Web goes to watch at least once every day.

…And that only skims the surface. There’s social networking sites like LinkedIn, bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious and collaborative resource sites like Wikipedia. Plus every day a new Web 2.0 site is born offering yet another way to connect with people and drive traffic back to your site.

It’s so overwhelming, most of the time I just take a quick look at the few sites I frequent or keep profiles at, then go back and post an article to my blog.

However every now and then something comes out about social marketing that I take notice of because I don’t want to be left behind and I trust the source of the information.

The “problem” with social marketing is how different it is to traditional marketing. You can’t even smell like you are trying to sell something or just using the site to build links or traffic back to your site, because as soon as you do – BOOM – you are banned.

To make social marketing work you have to…well…be social. Yeah, not surprising, but very true.

Social marketing is about community participation, but you can have a business agenda. You are there first and foremost to be an active and valuable member of a community and if you are smart, use your profile and connections to drive traffic and links back to your site.

Everything has to be organic and friendly – it’s actually a wonderful way to market a business because it’s like talking to friends. There’s no hard sell because hard sell simply doesn’t work – it’s not even permitted.

StomperNet Taking New Members Again

StomperNetIf you are on the StomperNet mailing list (you can sign up by filling out the form on this page you have no doubt already received news and links to more great free videos for the re-launch of the program.

As an affiliate for StomperNet I received a neat little PDF that explains what has been going on behind the scenes at the company. If you don’t remember, Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins released StomperNet about six months ago after conducting an extensive launch process that included releasing lots of great free videos about search engine and website optimization.

The program sold out and they grossed over ten million in sales, but even if you didn’t join the free stuff was very helpful, which you can check it out right now at the free public version of StomperNet.

StomperNet was by far the largest Internet marketing product launch ever completed, however what made that launch a little different was what happened after.

Normally you don’t hear much about what is going on behind the scenes and I often get the feeling many of the big product launches are meant to be one-hit-wonders – a huge lead-up process to sell a package, make millions and then walk away. The StomperNet team didn’t do that, instead they used the launch to form a business and based on what I learnt from the PDF, they have done a great job creating one of the largest companies focused on search engine marketing.

Here’s what StomperNet is today:
