Monika, from The Writers Manifesto, offered to take a look at TNX.com, a text link brokering service with a unique spin on the traditional system used by other brokers. Here’s what Monika had to say after trialling the system out for herself in this review…
TNX.net Review
TNX is a text link based advertising service that works with a points system rather than just being a simple paid links service.
Their aim is to provide webmasters with highly targeted visitors via search engines and give advertisers a platform to purchase links from various websites.
The sign up process is free and quick and within minutes I was able to access the back office. I signed up with TNX because I wanted to learn more about this company. Lately there have been quite a few bloggers reviewing their site and the general opinion is kind of mixed. On my quest to find out more, here is what I learned.

In response to Chad Randall’s post detailing his 7 Levels of Revenue for your Blog I’ve compiled my own ranking list of what I consider the best methods to make money from a blog.
This list reviews my preference starting from the best to the least effective monetization methods I have implemented on my blogs. Note the list is entirely representative of my experience and I believe what monetization methods work depends heavily on the topic you blog about and consequently the type of reader you attract. This is why, as you will see, my list differs from Chad’s, although I do agree with him that AdSense is at the bottom of the heap.
The important thing is to test and find out what works best for you. Don’t assume because something is best for someone else’s blog that is the case for all blogs.

As I slowly make my way towards launching Blog Mastermind I’ve been playing with new servers to release training videos on. The idea is to offer speedy downloads and different sized files to help those with slower net connections.
I’m trying out a special service designed specifically for hosting and distributing large media files such as video. It’s called cachefly.com.
I know many people had issues with my server when trying to watch the video I produced on how I currently make money from my blog. I’ve uploaded the video to cachefly and also produced a smaller version.
You can access the videos at the links below and remember, you only have to wait for the first 10% to download and then the video will start.

How I Make Money Blogging Video - Smaller Screen Size
If you haven’t seen this video before, especially if it was due to speed problems last time, can you take 20 minutes now to watch the video and tell me what you think of the download quality by leaving a comment.
The video outlines exactly how I make money from my blog including details on how much I make from each monetization method.

Back in August 2005 I wrote a three part series of blog posts about how I have made money online. This was one of my first pillar article series and forms one of the foundation content pillars that this blog was built on (my business timeline and typical day in my life articles were other foundation pieces I wrote in 2005, during this blog’s early days). These article types are concepts that are crucial to a blog’s growth during the first few months and are part of the methodology I teach in Blog Traffic School (and yes, the course is still coming, the mentoring program will be released first though).
I thought it was about time I updated my how I make money online series since I now make a significant proportion of my income from blogging. I was asked in my last post were I revealed that I made $6549.52 from blogging in March to break down specifically how I did it, so in this post I will explain the particulars for you.
How I Make Money Blogging - Video Explanation
I’ve explained how I monetize this blog in a 23 minute screencast video. It’s a 60MB video or 10MB audio only download, so I recommend this only for my broadband readers. If you have problems with the video I suggest you wait for it to download completely rather than watch it streaming.
Click the graphic below to open the video in a new window.
If you like the video and want to see more screencast presentations like this, stay tuned for my blog mentoring program as I will be using screencasts throughout the program.
March 2007 Income Breakdown
I maintain a monthly income spreadsheet, which lists revenues generated from my blogs and websites. Here is a snapshot from March, minus some private data that is not appropriate for release to the public.

As an entrepreneur and a blogger I’ve been afforded a unique outlook on the whole blogging as a business discussion. Bloggers look at blogging as something they do for fun, for creative expression, for meeting people, for making money directly from advertising and affiliate promotions or indirectly by promoting a business. Most bloggers are either not blogging for money or are self employed content publishers. While there is nothing wrong with that, and I’ve been living the self employment life myself for a long time, it’s not my end goal.
Because of my entrepreneur mindset I always look at things from a strategic business point of view, not an employee mindset. This attitude has led me to study business strategy and systems and implement what I learn both in my business and in my blogging. I doubt there are many other bloggers out there who think and act as I do in this regard, which is why I enjoy writing about blogging as a business model so much - it’s not territory many people cover since they just don’t think about it.
Today I have a topic for you that clearly is from the entrepreneur mindset and if your goal is to use blogs for business, possibly as your business (the blogging business model), as a lead generator for your business, or as a cashflow source for bootstrapping your business, you will definitely find the ideas below of interest.
