You have to love the Internet marketing world. There’s a certain amount of jaded bitterness that surfaces when you sell something that presents a make money online opportunity. Every time I promote a product related to marketing or online income generation, there are those people out there who have adopted the belief that all marketers are liars and their products are more sales than substance.
Some might argue that it’s the hype - the language used to sell Internet marketing, in particular the long sales page format, that elicits the snarky comments or the sighs of “not again” from a handful of viewers. The disdain is palpable from some people and as much as I understand where they are coming from, it would be nice to only deal with satisfied customers.
You can’t please all of the people all of the time and everyone has a different experience and mindset, which isn’t always positive. No matter what you sell, there are people who will take issue with what you do and how you do it to the point where they feel the need to publicly state their disapproval.
I’m a bit tired of negativity, so today I’m going to relay to you three “golden nuggets” from three products I purchased from Internet marketers who sell Internet marketing products - the prime targets of the naysayers.
I spent at least $1,000 on each of these information products and they have all had a positive impact on my business and returned more than their cost in increased income and resource savings. Note these ideas - the nuggets - are just a sample of what I learned from the products and as anyone successful knows, it’s the two or three really powerful ideas that make a big difference.
Here are three examples -

There’s a well circulated understanding in the business world that the best source of increased revenue is your current customers. It’s harder to acquire a new customer compared to selling more to existing customers. The psychology behind this explains that your existing customers do not face the same level of resistance because they have already taken out their wallets and bought from you and experienced what you offer. Those who were satisfied will be eager to buy again.
While not quite as powerful as selling to a converted customer, the next best thing is selling to a person currently in the point of conversion.
Action Taken
The point of conversion is any time where a person has taken an action and interacted with your website. While it’s preferable that the conversion action is a purchase, it can also refer to an opt-in for something free. The point of conversion is also a point of escalation, transforming a visitor into a prospect or a prospect into a customer.
A similar psychology is at play at the point of conversion as to selling to existing customers, because the person has taken an action and therefore more likely to take a second action and even a third action.
Let’s look at some classic examples of how to take advantage of the point of conversion to generate more dollars.

- How To Launch A Membership Site - Part 1: Build Your Preeminence
- How To Launch A Membership Site - Part 2: Communication Channels
The pieces of the puzzle to produce a successful membership site are coming together. Preeminence (credibility, reputation, key contacts) and marketing (an ability to communicate with your prospective members) are in place, or at least you know you need them to be in place, and now you can work on putting together the nuts and bolts technology to deliver your membership service.
To build your membership site you need to consider the following requirements:
- How will you protect member resources from public access?
- How will you take payments and process registrations/deliver resources?
- What content features will your membership site contain (audio, video, forums, chatrooms, webinars)?
- What email list service will you use to communicate with and how will it integrate with the rest of your membership site?
- How will you handle affiliates - track referrals, offer promo tools, pay out commissions and ingrate everything with your email list service?
As is typical with web technology, you have quite a few options to choose from to satisfy all the above requirements. The challenge is coming up with the right combination of tools that meet your needs and work well together.
My process to decide what technology to use started a long time before I launched Blog Mastermind, in fact years before I even decided to produce a membership site at all.
Before deciding to produce a mentoring program for professional bloggers I was planning to release an information product, an e-book along with some videos. This was about a year into my blogging career and at the same time I made my very first technology choice, which (eventually) impacted the structure of Blog Mastermind. I made the decision to use AWeber as my email list provider (AWeber review is here).
Thankfully AWeber integrates with pretty much every mainstream membership site software program, so although I made my email autoresponder decision early, it had little impact on what software I used to meet the rest of my membership site needs.

I’m writing this from the World Internet Summit in Melbourne. Thankfully I can pick up a Wi-Fi signal so I can do some blog posts while I’m here.
I want to start with an innovative “live” event that Mike Filsaime is conducting during the course of the summit.
He’s releasing a new free report called The Resource Report, which outlines all the resources Mike uses to run his business.
You find out what companies he hosts his websites, registers domain names, what email autoresponder he uses, what shopping cart, payment processor, teleconference provider, membership management software and a bunch of other programs he uses every day.
Mike provides his biased opinion of each program based on his own experiences, so if you want to know what software and systems one of the top Internet marketers use to run his business, this short report should fill the gaps.
The report is completely free and you can download it here -
Unique Launch
What’s unique about the launch of this report is, for at least a week, Mike is not promoting the report via his own list or any of his usual joint venture partners. He’s allowing only the attendees at the World Internet Summit to sign up download the report first, tell friends and promote it.
As you will see when you go to download the report Mike is using his Butterfly Marketing system to deliver this book, so when you sign-up you are an instant affiliate as well. There is a one-time-offer presented at the point of signing up to get the free report, and as per standard if you refer people who purchase the one-time-off you get a commission.
The reason why Mike is holding off his own promotion of his report is because he wants the attendees at this seminar to see the power of viral marketing.
He’s effectively created a product and launching with no existing list and no joint venture partners. He’s only using the potential for viral marketing by leveraging just the people attending the World Internet Summit this weekend.
The hope is by Sunday when the summit ends he can report back a certain number of sign-ups and one time offer sales, demonstrating the potential to launch with nothing, and thanks to viral marketing, have a successful launch.
Like what I’m doing now, many of the attendees at this event will use their list or blog or friends to recommend the report. I’m very curious to see how well this little experiment goes and I’ll do my best to report back the results on Sunday or Monday.
Download The Report
Like a similar report Rich Schefren released listing the resources he uses online, I found Mike’s report handy and there’s always two or three software packages I didn’t know about that will save me time or solve a problem.
For example I’ve been wondering what host Mike uses to run his Butterfly Marketing packages because I want to feel confident that when I release my book via Butterfly Marketing that the server won’t go down if things get crazy.
Again, you can get the report here - The-Resource-Report.com

Cut straight to the chase - Download the free report Death of Internet Marketing by Mike Filsaime (aff).
Fresh from reports about the death of AdSense, and Internet business manifestos, and final chapters and life after AdSense and product launches and endless free reports and information on how to make money online I have yet another free Internet marketing report for you to read.
This one, of course, is different, because it’s from Mike Filsaime.
I have to be honest with you, I’m not one for hero worship but in the Internet marketing world Mike Filsaime is about as close to my hero as you can get. Mike is one of the few Internet marketers who’s newsletter I remain subscribed to and I think his Butterfly Marketing (aff) product is one of the coolest tools available in Internet marketing - it’s the most expensive Internet marketing product I have ever bought too!
I love Mike’s work and as soon as I heard about this free report I went and downloaded it eager to see what Mike was up to. I was curious whether it was a new product launch or not and what Mike’s take is on where Internet marketing is heading, especially given what Rich Schefren and Scott Boulch have been writing about in recent months in their free reports.
It turns out that no, this report is not specifically part of a product launch (I think - you never know!) although Mike is definitely building a list he intends to make money with in the future.
There are some neat features about this free report you should check out - and I don’t even mean the report itself! Here are some of the cool things about the Death of Internet Marketing:
- If you are an Internet marketer you have to go download the report just to see how Mike is confirming the opt-in. If you thought double opt-in was good, well Mike is using what I can only term “triple opt-in”, asking for email verification and extra verification via a captcha code you have to enter after double opting in. Yes this makes for quite a bit of work by the person wanting access to the report but it also means Mike’s new list definitely want the report - they went through three steps just to get it! That also means they will probably take extra time to read it and the list will be of a good quality when he goes to monetize it later this year or next year.
- Mike is of course using his Butterfly Marketing membership system (aff) to deliver the book and his viral marketing principles as he lays out in his manuscript (you can read my review of Mike’s butterfly marketing manuscript to learn more).
- He’s not pushing a one-time-offer or anything after you opt-in, you just get the e-book, however you also can recommend the book and Mike is paying out $1 for each person you refer to a two tier level. That means you get paid for both the people you refer and the people they refer under them (so essentially Mike pays out $2 per download of his book - he will probably end up paying about $50-60k to build this list).
This is similar to what Scott Boulch did earlier this year with the Death of AdSense report that launched his Click Flipping business and just like that report, those who were in early earned the most referral commissions.
- Mike includes a survey (like Scott Boulch did) that attempts to gather some market intelligence about people interested in Internet marketing, which I think is a good move and like he says will help him craft his business plan for the coming year.
As an aside - the survey function is a feature I’d like to see built into the members version of Butterfly Marketing, along with the triple opt-in function, and I expect it’s only a matter of time before Mike delivers. He keeps updating the software which is great - he didn’t just do the Butterfly Marketing product launch and walk away with his millions. He’s been consistently upgrading and enhancing the software month after month, albeit upgrades during the early months after launch were to fix some nasty bugs that the software had and I expect some people asked for refunds as a result. Those who stayed with him got to see the software mature into a very functional tool.
That’s enough Mike loving for now. I recommend you download the report as soon as possible and then tell your blog readers and email list subscribers about the report so you can earn your commissions. This really is super-easy money for those who act quick enough, and you get a very relevant e-book and can watch a master of Internet marketing ply his craft.
And yes of course if you download via my link I get a dollar and I get a dollar for the people you refer who download it, so of course I encourage you to do like I am doing to help spread the word for everyones benefit and take advantage of Mike’s offer while it is available for two weeks. Since this doesn’t cost you anything you certainly shouldn’t feel bad or cheated or greedy - everyone wins here. Don’t make the mistake of missing the opportunity because you don’t think it’s right to make money from this - I didn’t when I “paid” my dollar to Brian Clark who’s link I decided to click to download the report (and there were plenty of options).
Download the free report: Death of Internet Marketing.
What Is The Book All About?
This e-book touches upon pretty much everything we have been hearing lately, especially Rich Schefren’s teachings. Since Rich is also Mike’s coach it is not that surprising that they agree on a lot of things. Your going to hear about opportunity seeking and the long tail and product launches and pretty much everything else you will have read on my blog and in many other places if you study and/or work in Internet marketing.
Is Internet marketing dying? No. Are there too many product launches and is the market becoming jaded with them? Possibly. What’s going to happen next? - Mike’s report has some ideas that will certainly make you think. It’s a good read.
I like that Mike is a hugely successful Internet marketer himself so is in prime position to actually experience what is going on from the top. I think you can tell by now that Mike, along with Rich, are two of the only guys I still listen to in this industry and look to for advice.
One last time - Download the Death of Internet Marketing.
